I hope you arent a fan of fast spooling turbo's....my friend put an hx on his sr20 and didnt make 20psi till 6grand. It was a gnarly 20psi...but a TALL powerband none the less.

Actually, one of the main reasons people like these turbos is because of the good spoolup characteristics when using them with the Bullseye housing. Most people see full boost(20+ psi) from a HX40 in the 4k range. I'm guessing your buddy was using the stock turbine housing on his SR?


And OP, which bullseye housing do you have, the HX35 housing? Because the turbo you bought will not work with the HX40 housing as it is a hybrid turbo and has a HX35 turbine wheel.
 
If you read the HOLSET thread on here it will explain more about this turbo. Thats a decent deal and it has the better comp. wheel. You can change out the turbine housings which will effect your spool. It is an internal WG and I would sugest switching to a external setup.

yes. he was using the original holset turbine housing.
