Iv'e been trying to find decent headers for my 97 gst, I know pacesetter makes a kind but i read the reviews and seemed really cheap and shitty. Does anyone recommend brand names or websites i could find help on getting a new pair. Thanks all

check out the sponsors that we have here on tuners, also your car is turbo right? So you are looking for an exhaust manifold not headers.

He is probably talking about a tubular turbo header. If you go with a cheap on most likely its just going to crack. Why are you wanting to go to a header? Did you 2g mani crack? I wouldnt buy a mitsu flanged tubular header its just not worth it. I would wait and buy a t3 mani with a t3/t4 turbo one day. The stock 2g mani has made over 500whp.

one of my frinds had paceseter headers, but they his always seemed to crack from the middle so it was hard to reweld. Also you can just port the 2g manifold. Are you going to use the stock turbo?

SBR?
DNP?
2g ported?
turbonetics t3?

Yeah i'll use the stock turbo for a while; aren't intake manifolds just a technical way of saying headers. My friend did not recommend pacestters, ill keep searching online. I'm trying to get away from the stock manifold, eventually upgrading the turbo. Will tubular headers work?

If you plan on going to a non-mitsu-flanged turbo when you upgrade, you'll have to get a different manifold anyway. Do things in the right order, and you'll save yourself some money. Like several have said already, a ported 2g mani is plenty for the stock T25 and much more. There are plenty of other go-fast parts missing from your profile that you should replace before you upgrade the exhaust manifold.

No, an intake manifold is an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold is an exhaust manifold. Headers are a non-turbo thing. Everyone knows what your talking about, people are just trying to keep you from sounding un-educated on the subject.

I would highly suggest keeping the 2g manifold, they're not as pretty as a tubular manifold but they're proven to make mad power. Power>looks. If you do want something aftermarket, skip the whole tubular manifold idea unless your going with a garrett setup. The best (my opinion) exhaust manifold for an mhi turbo is the FP cast manifold.

I agree, decide on the the new turbo first so you dont have to buy a new manifold again The flange of the turbo and if it is internal or external wastegate will determine what kind of manifold you need. Theres no need to replace the stock manifold no if your still using the stock turbo.

I agree the stock 2g manifold is more than enough.I ran 11's with one on a 1g.
If your mind is made up and you really want tubular(despit what people tell you) go ahead and get a t3/t4 tubular and buy an adapter so it fits the mitsu turbo untill you upgrade.
Again I suggest just porting the stock 2g manifold.Porting is free if you do it yourself.

Just to chime in I agree with what the above people have said. Keep your 2G manifold and port it if you want improvment. A tubeular exhaust manifiold looks neet but uasually runs into problems with cracking. Besides you can keep the origional heat shield and save that O2 sensor wire from the firery death when it falls on the red manifold.

thanks a lot guys, i'll keep the stock manifold; but what other upgrades can i get to improve performance. New fuel injectors maybe? I don't work on cars but i like to race them around the streets. I have all the appearance parts i need, just working on the engine now. I have cold air intake, bov, elec. boost conroller, sports clutch; nothing really done to the head or inside the engine. Thanks

Personally speaking the best manifold i've come across is the HAFE manifold.. Cast Stainless, 7cm, ported.. Nice piece of work.. Work crack or rust so.. And its not bad for the price.. Has the privision to have the wastegate right on the manifold.. :thumb:

not safe bud...

The setup is fine. What isn't safe is using the power on the street not the Strip:nono:
No one should condone street racing. Unless you are one of the ones that don't believe in Seat belts, Air bags, or Roll cages. Life is to short to shorten it further by being careless. MY personal $.02

no no bro. What i mean is if a beamer tried passing me or some stupid trick i want to be able to take him, or from a light, just race the guy to the next or something small. Mostly what i want is a show car and be able to get a friend in the car and perform a nice run, safely.

OK I'll concede I have taken a friend or two out to try and have them S*it their pants with power but not longer than a block or two. Just keep it safe. Some one just posted a clip of som Lambo doing 219 on a public road. The only comment I have is " it must have been 2:00am ore something because there was no traffic to be seen". That speed was never intended for US roads We don't build things for it. Just keep it safe "shiney side up":)

I strongly reccomend an exhaust upgrade. At least a cat back, something to free up that exhaust flow a little more.

P.S. Street racing is not cool, but that BMW trying to cut in front of you on the merge isn't cool either. Just keep it safe :thumb:

yeah dude forsure. I have a bolt on exhaust, Greddy EVO II is what i got installed last year, it's pretty good what do you think. I won't take my car over 100 with someone else in it
