Auight my 2g if its sitting on a hill with it in first gear. Without the e-brake up the car rolls backward but the belts turn on the motor. What could cause this? Cause i would think it would be compression loss. Help me out here guys. Thanks Chris :talon::beatentodeath:

Car roles back in gear, turns motor, which turns the belts. Depending on how steep the hill is leaving the car in gear may stop it or not. You dont have low compression, its just that the compression leaks out when the motor is turning slow.

true but if you had good compression the motor wouldnt turn over just by being on a small hill. am i correct? if not then what could make the motor spin freely when the car is shut off and its in gear?

You'd be surprised.. Use your parking brake. aperfectly good motor will slowly turn over with pressure on it from being in gear untill it hits TDC on one of the compression strokes. If you're worried abotu comression, rent a guage from autozone and test it.

So basically i should just get a compression test done. and if it checks out start from there? what should the compressions number be around?

Should be arouns 160-180psi I think. Compression leaks down, so if the hill keeps pressure trying to turn the motor, it could eventually more some. It shouldn't roll down the hill though.

I'd check your timing now that you've cranked the motor over in reverse. This removes timing belt tension and can cause you to jump teeth. You (or gravity) should never turn the motor over in reverse.

This is true, I completely forgot about that. If you park on a hill where the car can roll back put it in reverse.

both two posts above this are completely correct... Double check the cam timing before you go out driving again. And always use reverse if you're parking uphill where the car could roll back.

So after driving it around. I've noticed that in 2nd gear about 2800 to 3000 rpm if i got w.o.t. It feels like it bogs. Some times it does it more than once. but if i let off the gas and go back into it it will pull like normal. What could cause this?:beatentodeath: :talon:
