HELP! Just got dsmlink put into 95 eprom ecu and now it makes a loud clicking noise.

I just got dsmlink put into my 95 eprom ecu from a local computer repair shop. Now when i turn my key to acc, there is a loud fast clicking noise, sounds like its coming from the area behind my cd player. I plug my stock one back in and everything works fine.
Do you think that they messed up the ecu when they put the chip in it, or is it fixable?

Actually the 2G ECU board is very fragile and easy to mess up the "path" along the board.

Was this place basically a "TV" repair shop (general purpose repairs) or do they "fix" ECUs primarily?

If Steve chimes in he can fill you in about how difficult it is to work on the 2G ECU.

Some people are in a rush to get their DSMLink up and running, but it's definitely worth the wait in order to get it done correctly.

I had the same problem, and it was due to my ECU being damaged when a local shop socketed it. What it ended up being was just as Jim said--several tracks were bent, which caused a relay to keep firing. That is the clicking noise you hear.

The ECU was fixable. I sent it to Tom/Dave at ECMTuning and they fixed it. It *should* be fixable.

I am still waiting for my dsmlink to get here from sbr and my eprom ecu from motoguys.. But I know the hondata in both my honda's did that when I had a local 'tv' repair shop soldered the chip... I know motoguys told me they can fix any ecu pretty much or so the sales man was trying to pitch to me.. hopefully it wasnt as bad as both the p72 ecu's i had in the hondas...
