quick question: direction of water through oil cooler?

I was wondering if it matters which way the water flows through the oil cooler? The way you are supposed to hook it up doesn't work as good as the opposite. Since it appears to be just a coil of cooling line inside, does it matter which way the coolant flows?

It dont give a hoot. Wich ever way the hoses fit best.
