I'm still on the stock oil pressure guage. My motor is only 4000 miles old. I'm running regular 10w-30 going synthetic at 5k. For the first 3000 miles everything was cool. Now the oil pressure decides to go almost to pinned on start up (only sometimes) and will usually go back down after idleing it for about 5 minutes. Now it's getting worse and it will randomly decide to peg while cruising/ idling/ getting on it, then again sometimes the pressure is perfectly normal. I thought about coking because sometimes it will be pegged then literally a half second later fall right down to normal pressure and I'm thinking that could be because it blew out a blockage? I'm stuck on this one do you think it's something I should be worried about or is my gauge just going nuts?

Check the wireing. The insulation has rubbed through at some point or another (the odds are arround the sensor) and when the engine is running it is making intermintent contact. Find it moove it and tape it over.

If not the sender is takeing a dump.
