Running an external wastegate

Im having a problem going from an internal waste gate to an external exhaust manifold mounted one.

I have a full megan exhaust and I tried to fabricate a piece to go between the turbo and the factory o2 housing, but to know suprise it blew it out the exhaust. Ive been searching parts on sites looking for options and it doesnt seem like I have any other option than to run the waste gate on the o2 housing, or get a new o2 eliminator down pipe. My ears are open, someone chime in........

I have no idea what you're talking about with a piece in between the turbo and O2 housing. You have a MR downpipe? Just get one of the bolt-on O2 housings designed for the 38mm wastegate. Punishment racing and a bunch of other people sell them.

If you mean you're trying to run your external off the manifold and recirc into the O2 housing, give those guys a call. I'm sure they can build something for you. Or call Shearer, Straight Line Specialties, or any other fab shop.

You can run it off the manifold or the o2 housing I run mine of the 02 housing, althought you can make them if you have the resources, they are also expensive to buy, your best best if you don't want ot spend much money is to weld a seperate runner of the number 1 runner like most people do, or buy one with the flange already casted into it, I.e SBR, or you can do a custom job and run it off the collector area of the manifold which is a better idea then taking exhaust flow from just one runner, if you search you can see which is best and what other people chose to do, and also the pros and cons of running it of either the Manifold or O2. You also want to clarify your thread its some one vague but the piece between the 2.

I just need to block off top hole on that picture where an internal wastegate would have blocked off. I already have the manifold mount on the car.

I dont think I have the internal flap. I seen one on my stock turbo but i sold it on the turbo. Or is the one on this turbo.

Im trying to plan this out before I start working on it. I hate spending time searching for parts when its time to work.

If you can't find the stock flapper, I've got one on a 14b I'm not using. If It comes down to it, you can always just get a circular piece of metal and have somebody weld it on. It doesn't necessarily have to be the flapper, it's just that most people have that, so it's easiest/cheapest to use.

I'd moun the external on the Exhaust manifold instead of the o2. The o2 elim. downpipes are a good idea.

You can find exhaust manifolds that have the external wastegate perch already on it and they will accomodate a wide range of sizes of wastegate. Wastegate on the header is the only way to go in my book.

He's already got an external mounted on the manifold. He's just trying to block the stock internal wastegate passage.

Get someone to weld your internal hole shut via weld build-up or a piece of metal and be done. External gates are +30 boost acuracy.

Im already running a 42mm wastegate on the mani. its on the 4th runner though, but thats how i bought it so ill see how it works out.

You can get a tubular 02 on ebay real cheap with an external dump tube then you can cut down the tube and weld it. You can also have someone grind out a metal piece to stick in there and then get it welded.
