My belt that runs on the outside of the pulleys keeps popping off. I ajusted it with the tensioner off of the alternator and ot it tighter than the one that runs on the inside but it still keeps popping off. The belt is not broken just keeps popping off.

Same thing happened to my car and it turned out that my crank pulley split in two where the dampener(rubber part) is. Bought a new crank pulley and belt b/c mine were fubar. Problem solved.:thumb:

ya i loosened the pivot bolt. How common is for a belt to stretch? I'll have to check that pulley to see if it split.

Did you re-tighten the pivot bolt after the adjustment?

From my experience a new belt may stretch a tiny bit after a few hundred miles but not enough to cause it to come off of the pulley.

Did you remove any of the pulleys recently? Make sure that the alt pulley is not on backwards as this may cause misalignment of the belt.

Started up my car this morning and the belt popped off as it was cranking over. Reached down to put it back on from the bottem and found out the crank pulley had split into two pieces. Thanks for the help guys.
