the car I just bought was suppose to have a broke timing belt, with the cover off the belt is still over the cam gears, when I pull up on the belt it wont come off. Shouldn't a broke belt pull right out?

Not always, the belt could be pinched somewhere on the lower side. My brother's 1st gen(which is still sitting in front of my house after almost a year:mad:) is how I know. It looks fine from above, but upon closer examination it's fubar'd at the bottom. Yanked and yanked, but it's stuck chuck!

I bought a talon last year with a "broken belt" when I took it apart 6" of it was just stripped and i got lucky the valves didn't hit the pistons.

Nice, hopefully the OP is as lucky as you were.:thumb: We haven't delved into the extent of my bro's damage yet as he's lost faith after some A holes broke into his ride in a brutal way. Smashed in the quarter panel behind the pass door crowbar style to pop it! We think they did it so they could hold in the 'lil door pop pin? so the alarm didn't go off. Wish they just broke a darned window instead.
