I had not checked my oil in about a week berfore last night, so I decided to check it. No oil was on the dipstick, except for the very tip of it. Ichecked my overflow tank, and it was low of coolant too. So, I looked at my block and there is a pretty good oil leak where the headgasket is (or was). I looked in my catch can to see how much oil was in there-it was full of something that looked like milk.

So, I know I need to do a compression check to make sure on the headgasket, but what should i do about running out of oil? I was already in the works of swapping heads (bad valve guides and seals) but do you guys think I should rebuild the whole motor now? Any info would help.

If it is on the tip you still have oil in the motor. start with a quart and add it. check then add a little at a time until it reads full.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it was on the very very tip. So little it looks like it's from hitting the walls when I pulled the dipstick out. Any more suggestions? Should everything be ok bottom end wise?

If there is anything on the dipstick you should still have a good amount of oil. If you want to be sure do an oil change. Drain out your pan and filter and see how much was really there.

If any can get on the dipstick then you should only be about a quart low which isn't good for your engine but in the span of a week, depending on how hard you drove the car, shouldn't be really bad for it.

+1 on draining what oil is left and looking for metal particles.
After you drain it if there is none , add some oil start the car let it idle for a while then drain it and check again. If still none your good to go. Then look into your headgasket
You might get lucky
