obtaining error codes on 99 eclipse gst

I'm definitely having some problems with the car. My service engine light came on and would like to obtain the error code prior to posting my symptoms.

It's a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST Spyder. I've searched and read the FAQ's. I found this document, but the ON/OFF/ON/OFF/ON does not change the way the check engine light behaves.

Is there a doc, maybe in the tech guides section, that I can follow that would help me obtain my error codes?

They Keydance method is only for NT's.

First of all, is this for a '99 or '91? I'd guess '99 since that's the car your profile lists.

But to get a code checked, go to your local auto store (Advance, AutoZone, etc.) and they'll read it for free. Or you can buy a code reader for $50 - $150.

1999, fixed on original post.

I don't plan on tuning this car, mostly a daily driver. I'll go get it read. I was hoping i could do it at home since it's having issues. Thanks for the quick reply.

No problem. And the code readers have nothing to do with tuning. All they do is read the CEL codes. I wish there was some way to do it at home as well (without a code reader or DSMlink) so that I could've read codes before I got DSMlink.
