Ho do I remove an air silence from a j-spec Cyclone GT (Galant VR4 in the states)?

I bought this eclipse with the 4g63t motor in it out of a Cyclone GT. I took the air filter off and can visibly see the silencer but i don't want to start dissasembleing the intake and end up mess up some sensors or something down those lines. Is it possible to remove the silencer with out have to mess with the MAF or the ECU and if so how?

P.S. I've already checked out the stuff on to forums about removing the silencer and they aren't specific enough. I also looked at a diagram from one of the post and my intake is diffrent from the one in the diagram.

Actually there is a big differnce in the setup of that intake box between the Galant VR4 and the GSX. I've seen diagrams for the GSX and it looks completely diffrent.
