Hey guys....slight trouble with my car. My SAFC decided to reset and I wasnt the one to tune it so I have no clue what the levels were set at.

Have been tampering with it here and there but just want some input...actually any help would be highly appreciated.

Mods
Fully built 2.0 Engine
GT35r
880cc injectors
Maft 3in
Eprom ECU
TMO s3 chip
Maft translator

Those are the main mods. It is flashed for 880cc injectors....So, I have an EGT, wideband and SAFC.

Just wondering....anyone have a similar set up that could tell me where to start putting the levels at?? Also, what percentage should I put the Dec-air at?? It goes from 0% til 20%. I read the guide and it did not state what I should put that at on the SAFC

Thanks

***Also have a datalogger with MMCD but I cant load up what I have onto the computer ### it wont connect. I bought a usb cord for it thats in the mail right now. Also, how long do the fuel trims take to change??? I literally sat out there for 10 mins after a little change and the low fuel trim did not budge.

Also, I drove it a tad with the levels at preset and the EGTs got really high.(slow cruise)

So, needless to say I stopped driving immediately. So, do you think its way too lean or way too rich???

If your ECU has a chip for the 880 injectors (which no original TMO chips you find did) then you wouldn't have any corrections of the SAFC and your MAFT would be baselined. Now somebody might have fixed the injector comp in the chip later and given you a modded TMO chip but short of reading it out it's going to be hard to make sure.

Make sure than the SAFC is initialized correctly for a DSM (karmen sensor, rising TPS, 4 cyl, etc.) and check your MAFT settings. If the car runs and goes into closed loop without any other corrections that the chip is close to the right corrections and the only tuning you need to do is for performance not to make the modes function. If it doesn't then trying to run 880s with ECU reprogramming is going to leave you with really aggressive timing maps from pulling out so much air to comp or the injectors.
880s are bigger than the SAFC can deal with on it's own and using the MAFT to make additional corrections is just making a bad setup worse.

Dec air doesn't work with a Karmen sensor. Reread the SAFC manual a couple more times.

The SAFC is correctly initialized with Karmen, rising TPS, 4cyl. The chip is burned for 880cc. So, from all the reading im doing it can be retuned to how it used to run with the SAFC, wideband, egt.

Id read the SAFC manual but I do not have it....ill see if I can find it online.

Verify base fuel pressure, TPS, etc, all that good baseline stuff. Next, set up fuel trims via the SAFC (someone else will have to chime in). When you're done, just make a pull and adjust for fuel via the SAFC based on your wideband.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I hope that answers your question.

If the chip is correctly programmed your car should run as well as stock without any additional SAFC corrections. The tuning then is the small corrections for best performance and made only to the high throttle settings.

Try looking here for the manual http://www.apexi-usa.com/support_installation.asp

Thanks for the feedback guys

Today I let it idle for a bit. The rpms werent steady but when it went up and down the AFR's shot up really high and then goes back down to about 15...then shoots up again.

Your Running lean if your afr is above 14.7:1, and if your EGT's are really high, that confirms it.

How high is high?
Once the car warms up and enters closed loop the AFR should cycle on either side of 14.7:1 back and forth as long as the chip programming, MAFT and SAFC settings are close. Once the coolant temps go over 186F the ECU will start updating the long term trims from this feedback.

High as in the A/F meter gets pegged over 16 and then comes back and just keeps doing that. I played it with more and now its around 14.7 but still goes really high when the car warms up.

You say the idle isn't steady?
Do you mean it's surging?

If that's the case the AFR will go lean because the ECU is turning the fuel off each time to make the RPMs drop.

Yes, its surging. Like, the AFR will be around 14.7 then the rpms drop and the AFR pegs past 14.7
