This is most definatly a Newbie question but I have never done anything to my Intercooler, guy who had the car before me changed everything to hard pipes.

I just got my FMIC + pipes. the FMIC has 3" openings and the pipes I got are also 3" . The problem is... my J-Pipe is 2.25" and so is my pipe that leads to the throttle body. should I scrap the 3 inch pipes and grab something smaller or just get reducers?
OR are there larger upper IC pipes that fit to the throttle body?

If it's a money issue reducers are $13 a piece from siliconeintakes.com. You're going to need the two reducers one way or another if you run different pipes with the 3" inlets.

If it's a performance issue, it is adding volume to the intake tract which does add a small amount to spool up time. It is less restrictive as well. In my opinion, it's like an intercooler, I'd rather have it too big, than too small.

I say run them, then if you feel like it's taking forever to spool up (it won't) try running smaller pipes.

Large pipes aren't going to hurt spool - boost leaks will. Just run your 3" pipes, get a reducing coupler to make them work with a 2g throttle body elbow. As for the J-pipe, use another coupler, ATPturbo.com sells 90 degree reducing couplers and T-bolt clamps.

Thanks guys. I just purchased the reducers, going to see if I like it. I can always get smaller ones some other day. I definatly appreciate all you guys and your inputs.
