clattering noise wtf!?

ok so I have a clattering noise coming from the driverside of the engine. it sounds like its coming from down by the pully's?! what could it be.

ah sorry. um its around 1500 or so up to about 3500 or 4k.... sounds like a metal on metal.

hmm check by the timeing belt all belts... is it while your driving ? if not get someone to rev up for you and scope it out

Its done it since I got it a few weeks ago. Theres no sign of him hitting anything. all the belts are tight. it does it while Its sitting and driving. I tried lookin down there but can't figure out exactly where it's coming from.

Don't think so, sounds kinda random actually, just a metalic clatter, really wierd. What does a bad crank pully sound like? Or waterpump?

Check the heat shields on your exhaust. One of the welds came loose on mine a couple months ago and started smacking the exhaust. I thought the car was going to explode. Plus, it's a really easy thing to eliminate before getting into more complicated things.

It does sound like an exhaust problem, when I put my header on, it made a very similar sounding noise and it took me for ever before I figured it out. My car made a rattling sound just randomly, sounded kind of like a bad power steering pump, but way too loud....

Ok, Thanks guys. I will try checking the heat shields today after work. It would be awesome if that's all it is because I have been freaking out that the dang thing is going to explode! *crosses fingers*
