I recently have been experiencing some issues with shifting on my 1997 GST. Tranny fluid was changed in January with GM Syncromesch, and the clutch fluid resevoir as been sitting at the same level for quite a while. There is no evidence of leakage at the clutch cylinder, or no leaks at the slave as far as I can tell.
I first noticed a bit of an issue when I was driving on the freeway for about 45 minutes at about 65-70mph. When I exited the freeway and came to a stop, the transmission did not want to go into first gear. I pumped the pedal a bit, and it did not really help. Finally, I was able to force it into gear. As I drove a little bit further, the tranny shifted easier and easier until it was normal.
This has happened a few times with this same outcome. I drive for a while at +65mph, come to a stop or slow down where I need to downshift, and it is really hard to get it into gear.
More recently, I experienced something else. I was driving along at 40 mph and was approaching a stop. When I pushed in my clutch pedal, there was absolutely no pressure. I pumped the clutch a few times, and still no pressure. I came to the stop, and finally, the pedal had more pressure and I was able to get it into gear and continue on my way. I pumped the pedal a few times while driving and the pressure was fine.
It has since done this two more times over the past week.
It has only done this when I am driving in a straight line and doesn't seem to be related to making any kind of turns, especially a left turn. I made sure of this as I made a few left turns, pumping the pedal to see if there is any sign of "you know what".
Any suggestions?
Thanks for you help in advance!
