Does my 95 GST have a CAS?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

1995 and 1996 turbo dsm's have the cas behind the intake cam gear. All other years have them on the opposite side on the end of the camshaft without the gear. On our cars, there is a full moon seal where the other cam angles sensors would be.

Luckily, in your case a new cas is $50 from the dealer.

Yeah, I would recommend that as well. But since Clay doesn't have Dsmlink he will need to swap the injector wires on the Ecu. The cool thing is that he can get the plug and play harness from RRE.

Here is some links on that - http://www.roadraceengineering.com/6boltswap.htm

Or I can make him the same exact harness for $30. ;)

I'll actually sell you a kit if you're interested. Everything will be plug and play you just got to swap the wires on your ECU. So it'd basically be the sensor itself and the harness. I've got one left as of right now and it's on ebay. PM me if you'd be interested and you could just buy it through ebay if you feel more comfortable.

Thanks for the info, but I will not do the swap. I've been stranded for a day and I just want the car to run without more modifications and money down the drain.

The 2G crank signal will have to be replaced with a simulated Crank signal from
a 1G CAS.

Be prepared to buy DSMLink and 95-E-Prom ECU if your Stock ECU is unhappy with
the simulated Crank signal. Its the only viable solution to eliminating false
Random Misfire detection if the problem occurs.

If you have the auto tensioner compressor special tool, you can zip-tie the cam gear without having to remove the timing belt.
