I've searched all over this forum on this topic but cant find the answer so here we go.

I got a 1990 Eagle Talon (obviously) TSi AWD yadda yadda yadda, every time I start my car I get a weird squeak/squeal noise that sounds like its coming from the rear camshaft has anyone ever heard of this and if so what do i need to fix this its really annoying and embarrassing to drive it like that seeing how it gives our beloved DSM a bad name which I don't want. Thanks.:talon:

No ones listening to me i already looked at the obvious stuff and thats not it. im asking if its possible for a camshaft to squeak/squeal. now one thing i forgot to mention is that my valves are also ticking could this possibly be from that?:talon:

Take off the valve cover and check the cam for oiling. make sure your oil passages aren't blocked there. Also check torque on the cam caps(if you just bought this vehicle), they could be over tight. Just some thoughts.

Oh , I already check all of belts , but I have a squeak coming from the cam area . What can I check next ?

That is the question right . When does it squeak ? all the time ? Under load or boost ? At idle ? Can you get an audio clip for us to here ? You could pull valve cover ( with engine off , obviously ) turn engine by hand , not sure how to do just ask . Listen for sounds . Get back to us .

The sound is intermitten it comes and goes but for the most part is all the time and gets louder with more throttle. And i cant get you and audio clip

Have you done a boost leak test . I know when I have had squeeling/squeeking noises in the past it has turned out to be high pressure air escaping . Injector seals , brake booster hose . Just a thought.

Oh , and don't forget to fill in your profile so we know what kind of vehicle we are dealing with . :thumb:

This happened to my former 1990 Eclipse, but it was after my EGTs were too high (yea, I was a beginner-ignition timing was off). Anyway, this was due to the oil passages being obstructed with melted aluminum flakes. Make sure and check those oil passages and you might want to pull a cam cap and check the bearing surfaces just to be safe (this is worst case scenario though).

Check your oil pressure too, I've had my oil pump fail before. I know you checked your belts, but make sure you check your pullies (loose), particularly your damper pully-mine squealed when it was beginning to separate.
