OK well i finally got my boost controller to finally works correctly, So i am boosting around prob close to 18-20, then goes down to 15 or so.. i think theres boost leaks. But when i am boosting at higher rpm it seems like its missing/stumbling. But I've been told that boost leaks will make it feel like that. I just don't want to go boom, by detonation. But once i get past to that point it pulls like a mofo..

I have a 2g maf
Safc
650cc injectors
255lph fuel pump.

I know i have the supporting mods to run about 20psi so i cant imagine its detonation. But any info would help..

ummm... you are boosting 20 psi without tuning?? tsk tsk tsk... you WILL blow your motor doing that... get some way to datalog (IE pocketlogger, mmcd, etc...) and a way to tune.. it sounds like your knocking like crazy and your car is pulling timing...

are you venting your BOV in to the air, or recirulating it back to the intake? because that will cause a whole armada of problems as well

but it sounds like you need a tune...

You should be logging. If you have a pom pilot, you can get every thing you need to log with mmcd for free (if you look hard). You'll have to make a connector, but that's not super hard if you can solder (radio shack).

Watch your check engine lite while high boosting. I'm fairly sure it'll flash real quick if knock gets bad during your run.

Are you boost creeping to 20psi, or is that where you want it?

I know its a little morse costly, but you can buy the datalogger cord off ebay for like 20 or 30 bucks.. and they are pretty 2... LOL

for sure.. just look hard and you will find MMCD.. thats what I used.. its pretty dope.. if you have a laptop and no palmpilot, then you can get a palm pilot emulator and put mmcd on that.. I have all the stuff at home, so PM me and I can probably just email them to you tomorrow... or you can just search and you will find it..

well i had my car tuned at gzp, but it was only tuned for about 10psi. but i figured with all that fuel i have it would be ok. I am not getting any check engine lights popping up. But it hits 15 then creeps to about 20 and back down, to 15. I have a all the fuel mods for 20 psi.. But yea i need a data logger hardcore. But i was thinking it was boost leaks making it feel like that..

ok.. if you have boost creep, then it sounds like your wastegate is acting up... do you have a 16g? yes you do.. to get rid of that boost creep, you need to port the 02 housing.. that will get rid of it, if done right...

and yes, your tune will not run right at 15 psi, if you are tuned for 10... what are you tuning with? DSMLink? SAFC? Chrome(joke)? LOL

o yeah.. iyou do have an safc.. good stuff... I really think you are knocking... do a boost leak test.. if that comes out legit, then its timing... ESPECIALLY at that psi...

But even stock the 14b can hit more then its stock boost. My buddy is running 17 psi with just a fuel pump rewire. But I will try and get a logger. But even at my level, after a certain point it goes. And I know my car is still running really rich as it sits now. But I was told I should be safe.

If you don't have a afpr then you don't have the correct supporting fuel mods to run +20psi, your engine is chocking on way too much fuel, If you get past a certain point and then your car pulls like a "Mo Fo" it's probably because yuor finally pushing enough air for how much fuel you already have. Checked your plugs lately?:talon:

but there's a good chance your running pretty damn rich all the time because your pump is overrunning the stock fuel pressure regulator and is flooding the engine with extra fuel. they're probably quite fouled.

yea, i rather have it run rich then running lean, but know both arent good, I have a safc so i prob tune it a lil bit..

I have a better idea. Buy an afpr and never have to worry about this again. 37 psi.

+1 on the afpr, data logger, and do a fuel pump rewire. You should be able to run more than 15 pounds on a 14b all the way to redline.

I have a b16g, i just checked my plugs today and they are looking a lil white at.. So i guess i was running lean. If anyone knows in my area to get either dynotuned or street tuned please let me know.. I know theres a place in easton, but let me know of any others.

1. Perform a boost leak test.

2. This is a car, not an oven, you don't just tune it and forget it. You need a logger to properly monitor knock and timing, especially when tuning 660s with a SAFC where timing is a huge issue. Having someone else tune your car and ASSume everything will be fine from that point on (they seldom are) is one of the most dangerous thing you can do.

3. CEL will not light up for excessive knock, your engine will.

4. Although an AFPR is needed, fpr overrun is a idle and part throttle affair, very little bearing on open loop operations (WOT).

5. Many of you need to start using proper caps in your posts. DJYoshaBYD, I'm sure this is not the first time you have been asked to do so.

I appreicate your help oldman, I know I need to get it tuned, and get a aftermarket fpr. Thank you for clearing that up i wasnt sure about the wot. But from the looks of the plugs, your deff right. Just out of curiousty would you happen to know where i can get it tuned. In the tristate area, and somewhat close by.

Honestly, I would get a logger first then make sure that you're boost leak free, one of the most important preparation prior to tuning, I wouldn't even tune a car unless I know it's leak free. I'm sure your problem has some to do with your tune but I doubt it's the only problem. You can pick up a Palm for less than $30, a cable for $10 and down load MMCD for free, post a log as well as your SAFC settings here and we will try and help. If you continue to rely on someone else, you'll be back here asking the same questions over and over again.
