I believe I read about this condition but don't recall what it was. my 1g will make a clicking sound under boost that speeds up and slows down with engine speed, but only until the temp gauge stands straight up. I have 60k on my '93. What is this all about?

I don't think it's the valves. Then it would happen all the time, on each revolution. If it's just a ticking noise, it's most likely the lifters. This is a common thing.

I'm not saying you are but this reminds me that I've ALWAYs said that none of us should be flogging these things until they are warmed up - So just putt around till the Temp needle is straight up - BTW Full Syn Oil would probably make this go away.

Make sure you're oil is at the correct level, and if not, fill it up. It could still be your lifters. You could also take it to a Mitsu stealership, and have someone there listen to your motor or ride in it with you, to help you pinpoint the noise.

levels are good. I've now noticed, since I'm driving it more, that even if it has sat warm for 10 minutes or so, it'll do it for a minute or so of drivetime. Does kinda sound like engine oil needs to circulate a little for it to knock it off. Lifters?
