yeah i was fixing to do a 6bolt swap on my car and i was wondering sence i will have a 6bolt can i use a 1g fwd tranny? as well as a 2g cause my tranny the 4th grear synro is gone out and i figerd if im going to replace the motor then might as well get me a good used transmission as well to use with the new clutch im getting and i want to make sure that i can use eather a 1g or 2g tranny b4 i go shoping for one

also i read that u have to change alot of stuff on a 6bolt to get it to work in a 2g car like u have to use 1g and 2g parts but sence the motor is comeing out of a 1995 awd then it should pretty much just be a swap sence its set up to run in a 2g already only thing i think i have to change is the flywheel other then that it should be swap and go cause im getting the head with the motor.

You wont be able to put a 1g tranny into a 2g because the 1g tranny isnt setup for the mounts.

Ive heard of someone changing the cross member to a 1g cross member. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I didnt think it could be done but i dont really know.

It would be better for you to get your 2g tranny rebuilt than it would be to install a 1g tranny. Remember 1g guys install the 2g tranny because its better than the 1g tranny.

I totally agree with Cs4g63 because I am one of them 1g guys. Stick with your 2g tranny and just send it to shep, tre, or jackstransmisions to get rebuilt. However, it's up to you on who you want to go with but I believe jacks is the cheapest. Good luck with the build.

jackstransmisions? is this online cause i never hread of them and do they charge alot? cause around here its like 1 grand to rebuild a tranny and thats way to much to for me to spend cause after i buy the 6bolt i will pretty much be broke

just checked and it will be $799 and i dont think that includes shipping

i will just keep my eye out for a good used one

I guess thats totally up to you but if your looking at modding your car at all you should really think about the rebuild. Its the weak link to our DSM's and when your buying a used one you never know what your gonna get. Where with a rebuilt you know exactly what you got and you also get a warranty. So I would suggest doing your 6bolt swap. Tossing in your old tranny and taking it easy on that untell you can afford to get it rebuilt. I also recomend the double syncro for 2nd gear.
