2g gst clutch help needed asap

i just put a new clutch master and slave cylinder, i bled the system but when you push the clutch in and let out quick it takes a second to kick back. is this normal or is something wrong? i haven't driven any car except the stick g35- g37 and we all know how nissan clutches are:) ( new oem master and slave with new act 2100 kit)

now i just noticed the clutch will go into gear with out touching the pedal? any ideas?

Did you remove the spring and restrictor thing-a-ma-jig from the slave cylinder? I'll try to find a write up on how to do this mod and post back.
 
The mod will help with the pedal coming back faster but I'm concerned about you using the extended rod. What was the purpose of using it? My understanding of it is it just a bandaid fix for a bigger problem. Usually, it is because the clutch pedal bracket is bad. This is more of a 1G problem, though. I wonder if the extended rod is what is allowing you to put it in gear, without some resistance and without pushing in the clutch.
 
and you can really shift into gears without using the clutch when the car is off?

I just went out to my son's 98 GST to double check. I was able to shift into all the gears without pushing in the clutch and with the car off. There was some resistance, however.
 
i was told to get it from extreme psi when i bought the act 2100 kit, if the slace cylinder is not connected (on the car) should i be able to move the clutch fork back and fourth?

Someone else will have to chime in on that one because I'm not sure.

If it were me, I would remove the extended rod and put the new regular rod back on the slave cylinder. I would also remove the spring and restrictor from inside the slave cylinder.

Do those and then see how everything works.
 
You say your clutch pedal takes a second to spring back? I'm pretty sure that the clutch pedal should spring back as soon as you take your foot off of it. How did you bleed the lines, did you gravity bleed it or did you vacumm bleed it? There may still be some air in the line.

If it helps, I just did another experiment with my son's car. With the car off, shifting felt the same whether the clutch pedal was pushed in or not. The resistance, if you want to call it that, is only feeling it going into gear, the same as if you were driving it.

Yes, that is correct. The slave cylinder is what moves the clutch fork.

No offense, but do you know how the clutch system works?

How can you not tell???

Also, YOU CAN SHIFT WITH OR WITHOUT THE CLUTCH PUSHED IN. I don't know how many times we need to check this for you. It is possible (at least in all manual cars I've sat in).
 
You can shift any car into gear with the car off because nothing is spinning. There isn't going to be any resistance. First thing I would do it get rid of the extended slave cylinder rod. Those are meant for a band-aid for a completely different problem and you need to take it out and put the stock one in. Are you sure you didn't damage the slave cylinder when you replaced the rod. If you broke the seal in the slave cylinder you are probably getting air in the system every time you push the clutch down and that will cause your pedal to hesitate coming back up. Other than that, take the car out and drive it and see how if feels.
