I have a 98 eclipse AWD and when Im making tight turns my car kind of hops and the rear wheels have to slide a little. Could this be my rear diff?

Thanks

was the car modified before you got it or are you the only one to mod it?

it sounds like one of your diffs may have been welded or they are locking up when they shouldnt.

Agreed. Sounds like the center diff was welded. If so that is expected, it was not then you need to have have a look at it.

The main reason a center diff would be welded is because it is the cheapest way to fix it if it breaks. Also it allows for better performance in drag racing and rally racing. But isn't really good for street driving as you have come to find out.

My guess would be that the previous owner launched hard and broke the center diff and just had it welded up rather than buying a new one.

+1 for the welded center differnt. But also are your tires all the same size? Im not sure if an awd car would do it but i know on pick-ups and suvs that are awd/4x4 if the tires arent matching size it will cause it to hop alot when you turn sharp.

Yeah I wouldnt doubt if that happened. Seems like every mod was done half assed. Ill also check the tires but i dont think thats it. Guess Ill have to deal with the diff after the 6bolt stroker swap. Well atleast I know. Thanks guys.
