Come to stop, car stutters during take off, CEL and ABS light flash, then dead no pwr

Ok so as the title is just a brief summery, I was driving my car to work today and I come to the first stop sign to pull off my street. I clutch in, brake and my ABS is going off like i'm skidding to a stop. My CEL and the ABS light are flashing. Then I disengage the clutch with some gas and It had one BIG studder, I let off the gas and she's idleing fine. The CEL is solid and the ABS light is still flashing. After trying to go again I get another big studder and then she just dies. I tried to start her back up again and i have NO power. No radio, no wipers, no flashers, NOTHING.
So Luckly, i was on a hill. I push her back down the street to the front of my house. I call my work and my buddy and get on with the process. I look under the hood, check the connection to the battery, Fine. I sit back in the car to try and see if she'll start. BINGO, she starts. At first i was VERY sceptical to even try and drive her the mile it is to work. I sit there a second as she idles, give it some clutch and gas to see if she'll go and she complies. Then she dies a few seconds later.
I sit there and diagnose in my head and I hear a clicking in the panel next to the rear driverside speaker. Like a mouse was chewing on something. I smack it to try and scare a potential mouse and nothing but steady clicking.

I'm at a loss here, no idea whats happening. I'm gonng try a spare ECU when I get home just to rule that out. After that If it keeps happeneing...i'm out of ideas.

Any other ideas?
 
I havn't poked my head around in there just yet since I was late for work but I forgot to mention that the day before. The car did the studder when I tried to take off at the EXACT same spot. It didn't die and the abs wasn't going off but the lights were on.
I'll test it when I get home, You really think that may be it? It started right up a few minutes after like i said. I have a feeling it's NOT my voltage but i'll rule it out.
 
well if your abs cel and abs and some othere lights it means you need a new alternator. your problem sounds alot like what my friend had so go take out the alternator and bring it to autozone or napa or some where with a part tester and get it tested but good luck:thumb:
 
I agree it's probably the alternator. If I were you I would get new mitsu alternator because the ones from auto parts stores don't last very long. I have found that it's also hard to find a good one from any of the parts stores I've been to .
 
So you think the car not turning on at ALL for a moment and then after a few seconds it starts up completely with NO ill effects showing from the battery being drained that its the alternator?!

I'm sorry but I just can't see that...

I've had an alternator go bad on me before. It lets the battery drain and then she quits... Not flip out, then start right up like nothing ever happened then do it all over again...

Are you guys reading the WHOLE post? You DO realize that the ABS was going off. As in I was jerking to a stop even when I was only going like 5...
Justify to me how thats battery related...Please.

I'm not trying to sound like an ass, i realize i'm asking YOU guys for advice but that just doesn't sound right.
 
Some of the symptoms you desribed are related to what happens if you have a faulty alternator, other symptoms you describe, are possibly battery or ground related. I would also make sure the alternator is gettng a good ground because that could cause all of the symptoms you described.
 
Ok, so I get home tonight from work and move she starts. A little cold and studdering under load only because i think shes not warmed up. Today was unusually cold...
I pull her into the driveway quickly hoping she doesn't die in the middle of the street. Well she's been idling in the driveway for a good 30 minutes now. Radio, flashers, headlights, and dome lights are on trying to stress the charging system.
I check the output of the alternator at the battery and shes pushin 14v. Not sure if something is loose or what... i'll let her idle for an hour and come back up here and hopefully i'll have some suggestions. I'll have the alternator tested tomorrow for sure. I may even swap it with a good one. I'm gonna pull the ecu also. Double check my caps.
 
Still idling... not even a studder. I checked the clutch, wiggled the battery, wiggled the maf connection, the temperature sensor connection and any other bright ideas to see if for SOME reason it might be connected to the problem. I'm trying to recreate the issue. I got nothin...
 
Ok so, I rechecked my timing today. Cars running like normal. I finally got my logger hooked up. I'm checking the battery's voltages recommended by a friend. They havn't gone up past 14V...
I'm hoping I get a log when it happens again...
