Which ebay clutch kit is the most dependable for daily driver in a stock 94 talon tsi awd?

the car is all stock 7 bolt. no mods of any kind.

stage 1 kit only

XTD
exedy
F1

Any of you guys running ebay stage 1 kit?

what does it feel like or how it drives?

Exedy is a pretty well known brand? Why not go with them... My friend has the xtd stage 1 for his car and it's ~alright... not the best feeling clutch ever but it's not sprung either so whatever.. get what ya pay for I guess and I would assume the exedy ones cost a bit more... but if you just wanna daily driver the XTD isn't to bad feels almost stock really

i wouldnt recommend any of the three brands you listed. go with a proven clutch, run an act. based on your mods, you have no need for anything over a act 2600 with a street disk, if you want it to grip hard, go with a 6 puck sprung

Hey, I have the fidanza fly wheel with the XTD Stage 4 (yes they are out there), and from what I have searched on the internet, they are the best from that brand, and this is coming from drifters who abuse their cars on a constant. But since you have a stocker with no mods, i'll just go with the exedy (OEM)... they are stock in 2g's, but i don't know what is stock on the 1g's. But if upgrades are in the future, honestly, it's up to what you can afford. Personally there is always a peak power point for the common tuner, if your not really hitting the track much and are not well off to buy say the exedy or hks multi plates, then the PTT from SBR would be my all around clutch (if the funds were available). They will put up with any upgrade you through on it up until I think 500ft-lbs of torque, so you wouldn't have to upgrade later. Just my 2 cents, and remember, all in all, it's up to what you can afford at the time.

Exedy is a proven brand and looking at his profile he doesn't need an ACT 2600 of a 6 puck for 14b. If he chose ACT I would recommend a 2100.

I wouldn't waste my money on a clutch good for up to 500ft-lbs. of torque. You are pretty far from that. It takes big turbo, fmic, fuel systems, engine internal, etc... to get 500ft-lbs.

I know, I was just giving him options. Instead of upgrade after upgrade because of more and more power wanted, do it right the first time... if he has the money.

Xtd "stage 3" 6 puck sprung here. Holds VERY well and has over 12k on it so far. Has 2 track launches on it and numerous burnouts.

The clutch is not going in my 93 fwd. I have act in there.

Im going to put it in a 94 tsi awd (borrowing my dads car). the car is all bone stock and never been modded and it will stay like that for the rest of its life(my dad wont let me mod this one). Im just looking for a good reliable clutch kit for daily driving from school.

he has no mods

an F1 stage 2 is still an organic disk, that would work fine. an autozone would probably be fine as well

I have an XTD, but it's a stage 3/4 mix. It's held reasonably well for 15k miles. I recently had it out to redo my engine and found some finger wear on the pressure plate. I'm thinking it's from it being a heavier pressure plate probably without much engineering to back it up. You might not have that problem with one of their more stock setups.

Sp there's my mixed review on the XTD...

whoops..i was looking at his profile car...didn't realize this was a different one.

i then recommend an ACT2100...a proven brand...what else would you want

Autozone clutches are junk. I helped my brother change out 2-3 of them on his old 92 talon n/t. Every one of the disc had springs broken. The last one blew the tranny when it locked it all up in 3rd gear.

The cheapest act 2100 i found was $170 plus $20 shippings and tax. The reason for buying a cheap clutch is to make the car run, smog it and get it registered so i can drive it for school, and im still saving up saving up for my evo 16g.

What you guys think about this one?

Thats a good clutch. I had one in my old 92. I put over 50k on that set up
Where did u find an act clutch for 190shipped?

Dude, go with Exedy. I got Exedy clutch and 8lbs Fidanza flywheel off Ebay for my 4g63 and I'm HELLA happy with it

I'm running the xtr stage 3 6-puck clutch disk & fidanza flywheel off ebay in my awd with a locked center diff...and it holds up pretty good. Before that there was an act clutch of some sort on the car...and the pedal effort was just way too much. The xtr stage 3 feels very close to stock with light pedal pressure.

I would go with the ACT 2100. If you can get it for 190 thats even better. I work for a big auto parts store and most of those clutches are junk.

Just go with clutchmasters, $180 or so for their setup and it works unlike ACT and their exploding clutches.

HAHA I just got one of thoes factory defective ACT 2600's. It was installed by Buschur, long story short I didnt do research and went with a terrible clutch. Im going to be running a Centerforce soon just need to put it in.

eBay Motors: XTD® STAGE 4 RACING CLUTCH -ECLIPSE /TALON /LASER TURBO (item 170224153875 end time Jun-08-08 15:17:43 PDT)
So im going to get that clutch for my 2g talon. that clutch should fit right? because the head lines on it also say laser. do the shafts have the same splines on them could u take a 7 bolt clutch and put it on a 6 bolt?

Yes the clutch will fit either a 6 or 7 bolt. It is the flywheel that will need to match your engine (6 or 7 FWD or AWD)
