I'm shipping my wastegate to Mr Peppers to get the arm extended and so on and he told me I could run the car with no wastegate and it will build no boost. My question is what do I do with the vac line running from the mbc to the j-pipe since the other side is disconnected? Do I just cap off the line on the j-pipe and take out the mbc as well? and is there any bad side effects of doing this? I have to drive my car on the interstate alot back and forth from school and I just dont wanna mess anything up. Thanks

In the past, I have driven my car without the wastegate hooked up and it did just fine. I would not suggest beating it or driving it hard.

As far as what to do with the goods, just make sure they are not going to fall off.

If he is not running the engine hard, it will generate no boost. Also, the nipple from the J-pipe will probably still be hooked up to the MBC, which will prevent any vac leak.

Wait but running without the waste gate hooked up will cause you to have no form of boost control resulting in severe over boost....Well at least under hard acceleration. Unless im mistaking what you were talking about... I ran without my jpipe vacuum line connected to the waste gate with a screw in it sealing it off for about a week before I got my mbc on my old gst just for the hell of it and it would build boost insanely fast on a evo3 and id always let off the gas right around 20 psi ( meaning i had my eyes glued to the boost gauge when doing a pull, and meaning when i was getting on it i had to modulate the throttle normally between 40-50% to keep the boost right were i wanted it without overboosting... Actually gained more power with 50% throttle and 20psi then full throttle and stock 11psi at the time... But id never go full throttle while i had it like that because it would overboost and boost spike WAY too fast. My turbo made wicket spooling noises and the blow off was crazy with it running w/o the w.g., this was a temporary ordeal till I had got my mbc and besides the sound effects that was the only reason i was doin it at the time...

He's referring to running it without an actuator attached to the flapper. With nothing to hold the flapper shut, he wont be capable of building any boost at all, except for perhaps ~2 psi

Yea ok i knew i was reading something wrong but was half sleep last night when i was online, :boring: but at least i got to tell my story w/ running without the vacuum line hooked up LOL. But anyways in that case your fine, it will just be slow and maybe sound funny. You may get more appreciation for your turbo once you get it back boosting though LOL !

Don't feel too bad mines on my way to him now as we speak...LOL
guess your not alone in this matter....I definetly needed this mod done do to being at stock boost pressure 9-11 and when I jump on it to try to see how it runs before any tuning sessions it jumps up to about 28psi in 3rd....Major boost creep...and yes it is ported.

Yeah, big difference between no WG and no line hooked up to the WG actuator.

You'll be fine. Actually mine did that on it's own, actuator just kind popped off every so often. You'll probably get 1-2psi if you push it hard enough.

PPPssssttt... hey. want some boost in the meantime? All you need is a little wire and to be able to tie a knot... < / boost dealer talk >
