im putting the evo3 16g soon with 650cc injectors and i was wondering what would be the easier and more practical to use the dsmlink or the pocketlogger? im looking to stay in the 350-400hp range no more cause i want to be able to have a daily driven car. so let me know guys whatu think thanx

650's are pushing the limit of what a SAFC can control, but it's one of the most common setups in the history of DSM's. 16g, SAFC, pocketlogger, 650's, 190, an exhaust, and a supra SMIC. That's a pretty damn solid daily driver right there.

Now, if you plan on going past that, DSMLink offers way more capabilities, including controlling injectors up to 1150 like stock, and 1600's with some work. The tradeoff is the price though. It's a huge jump for someone who has already spent a lot to build up a tuning setup around an SAFC

Well between those 2 choices you have to get dsmlink. A pocketlogger is just a tool to help you tune where as dsmlink will allow you to compensate for the new injectors, change your timeing maps and monitor your engine and much more. If you don't have a safc yet then just get dsmlink.

He'll also have to spend a whole lot more, which isn't necessary if he doens't plan on going past a 16g.

Link ~550, EPROM ECU ~200, Laptop ?.

Used SAFC ~200, pocketlogger.... 50? SAFC can handle the 650's fine.

Depends what your buget is, the timing maps are fine in the 2g ecu so theres really no point in messing with them unless your really serious about tuning and want to take out a degree here and add there to make some more power. Most of your time your going to spend trying to get the a/f right at the right rpm points.

To tune your car right you need a wideband 02, pocketlogger and a SAFC so thats like 400-500 or you could just get the pocketlogger and safc and do a basic tune...and then hit the dyno so they can dial you in.

DSMlink is no doubt the way to go, it gives you control over everyting, but for your goals do you want to spend ~850 for the software, cables and eprom ecu?

To tell you the truth I like my SAFC/pocketlogger combo for tuning, and all said and done I spent 250...A wideband is my next move.

Might be a lot cheaper the first time around to get safc and logger, but then later down the road when you decide to go bigger you'll need something other then a safc. 650cc injectors are pushing the limits of a safc. Yes the 2g timing maps are great, but with 650 injectors and safc those timing maps don't look so great anymore with the boost cranked at wot.

no im not goin past 16g anyways cause i want a daily driven car, but will the safc tune the car with the 650 cc injectors?

The logger is just around to so you can what's going on it still doesn't control anything. So you still need some way to control fuel but I would go link because you never know what you may do in the future. Not only that but all the functions it can do is worth every penny.
