Alright, so I read in the Stage zero power section of the Tech guides, and it says to clean the TB. I ran down to Kragens, picked up a can of "Valvoline Syn Power Carb, Choke and Throttle Body cleaner", read the instructions on it and. . . Well, it says nothing about stuffing a rag in the holes at the bottom of my TB, and states that it should NEVER be sprayed while the car is on. The Tech guide says I can spray it while the car is on, and to stuff a rag in the holes at the bottom of the TB to save the mechanisms down there.

What should I follow? The Tech guild or the can? (Sorry if this have been covered, I couldn't find it anywhere. :( )

If youre trying to clean your TB with a carb cleaner with the car is ON, youre going to have a bad day. That stuff is just like spraying fuel right into your manifold.

Im pretty sure the Tech article means you can clean the TB while its ON the CAR, not while the CAR is ON.

Make sense?

this is what the tech article say

"Using a throttle body or carb cleaner, clean the throttle plate and the inside of the throttle body. IMPORTANT: make sure to stuff a rag into the holes at the bottom of the TB, or the cleaner will get in there and kill the mechanisms down there. Then, use the can and a rag to clean it all out. When you're done with that, you can start the car with the intake pipe unplugged, and spray a can right into the throttle body. You can also spray the can into any line that sees vacuum at idle. "

dont do it like that if you already havnt...

the instructions straight from alldata (and they get it from the MANUFACTURERS)
start the car and let it get up to temp, shut it OFF this procedure shouldnt be done with the car running... especially with a rag in the intake...

-remove intake elbow
-get something to hold the throttle open (jack stand on gas pedal)
- cover the holes (i like tape)
- spray the heck out of it with carb clean and leave sit for 5-10 mins
- wipe out with rag
- reassemble car and start and revv a little
- let idle for ten mins
after the idle part i like to go and drive it hard for a little bit and then come back and disconnect and reconnect the battery... thats just preference though...

yeah those holes... im guessing the guy took some sort of small tool and jammed a rag in.... just use duct tape and press it down good to get a good seal...
