I have tried axles from every year eclipse and none of them are right...even tried 94 VR4..but thats a 2.4 so there no right either...does any1 no of any other car that might use the same axles?, or neway to dtermine what axles are in my car?

What leads you to believe you aren't getting the correct axles? How can you not get the correct axles if you've literally tried every year axle?

The 2g FWD turbo axles are the same for all of the 2g years. All of the FWD manual transmission axles are the same for 95-99, and all of the FWD automatic transmission axles are the same for 95-99.
What is the problem that you are running into that makes the axles you got wrong?

Well the car is actually at my mechanics..i just got off the phone with him and he said that all the 1's he tried, either the input shaft was too long or too short...

By the way i forgot to mention...i have a 6 bolt, but im not sure from what car, the only clue i have is that my car needed a tbelt tensioner from a 94 vr4

I know autozone should have the right axles. I received the fwd axles on accident.
The 6 bolt block should be fine with 2g axles. The only thing that would cause a difference is if you don't have the a/c condenser motor installed. In which case there would be a gap on the outer part of the mounting bracket. But, I believe fwd axles don't matter in this case.

The correct hyd. tensioner for the timing belt is off a 90- 92.5 motor. Don't settle for something off of the wrong motor. 6 bolt and 7 bolt blocks have a different tensioner.

The motor doesn't make any difference as to what axles you need. Make sure he is getting FWD turbo axles and not N/T or AWD axles. That's about the only thing I can think of that cause this.

EDIT: When I bought a remanufactured axle, there were little pieces of metal under the retainer clip. This did not allow the clip to compress and snap into place in the transmission. Cleaned it up and it slid right in. Something else to look for if they just aren't working.

The engines wont make a diference at all when it comes to the axles. The only thing that can make the axles diferent is if the transmission has been swapped to something diferent.

Ok, no problem..he said there was 1 set that he didnt try that will be here tommarow..

He has tried..
94
96
98
2000
94 Vr4

and nothing worked...

I guess i will have to wait untill tommarow to see what happens.

i think thats what he is unsure of is what tranny in the car...i dont know because i bought the car the with this tranny in it..any way to indentify?

A pair of axles he didn't try yet? What transmission did he put in your car? Who is he getting these axles from?

Is he actually trying to install them or just matching them up to the old axle? I had a similar problem it turned out that the cv-joint boot had slid up the length of the output shaft when it was removed the first time, making it appear longer than the replacement. After going to five or six different shops this was finally discovered.

I would assume that it is a 2g transmission since 1g transmissions don't have 3 places for mounts to bolt up, but I have been wrong on transmissions being swapped into cars before. :D

If it bolts into your car, then it is not a 1g tranny. Look at the bellhousing of your transmisson, If you have a 6 bolt block then, you will see that there is a space where there should be something covering your flywheel, unless he installed the shield that covers that area.

When you did the engine swap did you also put the trans from the galant in your car? The axles from a 94 FWD galant will be diferent than a regular 2g FWD.

Sorry I didnt see what you said a minute ago. Have the mechanic get the numbers off of the trans to verify which trans is in the car.

Ok...so i just talk to him and he said the 2 gen axles he tried were for AWD..i guess they gave him AWD by accident...he hasnt tried FWD yet because they werent in stock..they will be here tommarow, so Im hoping that this is it..
