I was driving my car about 25 miles to a shop to have it looked over for oil leak(s). Anyway, when I got there the mechanic (who is also a DSM owner) informed me that my VC gasket (which was installed this past friday) blew out at the intake cam side onto my fuel injector. Also, my timing belt...AGAIN was wet with oil even though my turbo guy installed a new one Friday. He also did a new crank seal and new lower tb cover.

The engine only has 1,400 miles on it. Big 16g turbo, port/polished head, forged internals, hks cams 264/272, 750cc fuel injectors, stock fuel pump, opened 2.5" exhaust and am "only running stock boost". Even though I have DSMLink, I have not had a chance to get the car tuned. What do you think it is? My oil dipstick never and did not pop out and my oil pressure was exactly half way during reg. operation and almost 2/3s the way under boost.

I called my turbo guy and he said it's because I didn't get the car tuned and it was detenation. I never heard a knock of any kind and there were no other warnings. I was runnning stock boost.

The mechanic who has my car now is checking that and will replace it if it needs it. Do you think "right off the bat" it is most likely the rings, the dsm mechanic wasn't sure without a boost leak test but my turbo guy was sure for certain. He said that's the only reason VC gaskets blow out.

I guess what I meant by check the pcv was actualy the vent that goes to the intake. If those are both unrestricted then it could possibly be blowbye from the rings. Maybe the valvecover bolts weren't torqued to spec?

Run to harbour freight and pick up a compression testor for $10 and do a dry then wet test to see how bad your rings are. Should only take 30 min and is really easy.

The boost leak showed nothing at the crankcase. the mechanic replaced the vc, pcv, blow-off valve gasket, crank seal, and timing belt but said I still have to find and replace the throttle body seals and possibly the oil pump gasket. But he said from the boost leak test the crankcase is ok. Rings all set now?
