I recently purchased a evoIII 16g, i already have the j pipe and the turbo has a 1g return line and water line on it. What else do i really need? I've looked through a lot of the 16g install threads but never really found anyone in my position or a difinitive answer

thanks in advance!

I honestly do not know for sure as I have never done this swap myself.

I would think that they would work if you made your own coolant and water lines using some rubber hosing. I have put 14b's on automatics and had to "fab" my own lines on those, it really is not that difficult.

here's a pic of everything

I have zero experience with 2G turbo cars. The only way you will know if those lines will work is if someone on here can tell you or you put it on the car. I know many shops sell 2G install kits, but I do not know what comes in them. Good luck.

Common FAQ's

Don't i need a new oil return line? You could but you can also file the stock oil drain line so that it will fit the bottom of your turbo saving you 65.00 for a 6 bolt oil return line.

Don't i need new water lines? No, just tweak the stock ones with your fingers slightly and they will go right on, they use the same size banjo bolts so there is no real need to replace them.

No way should you reuse the gaskets and bolts. You never want to skimp out on anything if you went from a t25 to this your gasket will not fit the turbo inlet or outlet, I would also get a new exhaust manifold gasket the 4 layer Evo 8 one is nice:thumb:. Also buy new turbo bolts please!

I need an oil return line gasket for the turbo. Where can I get em'? Or can I use some rtv?

You should get a new gaskets you should not use RTV you also neet to change the crush washers on the bolts for the return line. check your local parts store or dealer for the gaskets & crush washers but if you cant find them you could order them from RRE.

I'm thinking about just buying an install kit and selling my j pipe and just hangin on to the other stuff....im kinda scared to just hack it and make it work

Fabbing your own components is pretty cool, but if you are unsure about what you are doing then an install kit would be a safer method.

i installed mine with the install kit from extremepsi.com, it came with the gaskets and j-pipe and oil feed and return lines, and you can just re-use the water feed and return lines and i think thats about everything.

I recently spoke with someone about the whole situation, and came to the conclusion i need crush washers, an oil feed line and gaskets....where and what do i need of this as pictured above my turbo is mounted on the downpipe. What do i need to mount the turbo to manifold and for the connections of oil feed, water lines, etc. can anyone make me a list of what and how many i need. so i can order this stuff from slowboy asap, bc i dont know exactly what its gonna consists of...thanks in advance!!!

Slowboy Racing has 2g install kits listed in their website. They carry two kits: one with the essentials and the other with the $100 upgrade for a complete install kit. They're on the expensive side ($199 for the basic kit, and $299 for the complete one). I ordered the complete kit from them. They do give you a DSMtuners discount if you order from them over the phone.
