Yes, I have seen the article by RRE (great article). In the article their picture of the 2g throttle body looks the same as my friends. But when I checked out my engine bay I noticed that my: 1. Throttle body only had 2 ports (A,E) 2. I had 2 vacuum lines going over the intake manifold, which my friend did not. 3. I dont have a second solenoid next to the EGR solenoid on the firewall. 4. I don't think I have an Evap canister.

But I was thinking, would I be able to cap off ports (A2) and( E) - put the same line already going to (A) onto port (A1) of the 1g TB - and since the (E) is suppose to be for EGR, just put it on the (P) port.

I would like to know about this also as I have a 99 with only two vacum ports and I was told by a guy that did the swap that our vacume line hook up differently than the 95-98s.
I know for a fact that 99s have only two ports. when was your 98 made?

I don't have an answer to your question but it appears that the 98-99 models have the different "2 port" setup, while the older models have the 3 ports plus the other items you have mentioned. Mine as well, being a 98 is the 2 port. I too had thought about the 1g TB swap but since I wasn't sure about vacuum hose routing for my specific model I just went with a 62.5mm bored 98+ TB, to make it a 100% bolt on.

Yes, this is basically how I did it when I switched to a 1G TB. I also had the same 2 port TB that you are describing. Instead of capping off the A2 and E ports I ran a short piece of vacuum line between the 2. I'm not saying that capping them won't work, just letting you know how I did mine.

So I have "A2" and "E" connected to eachother. The line going to "A1" is tee'd into the line going from the EGR valve to the EGR solenoid. And the hose attached to "P" is directly from the EGR solenoid. My car has been running fine this way. Here is a picture which may help a bit.

I don't have either one of these also. There is some sort of canister tucked up under the left rear quarter panel right next to the fuel filler tube. I don't know if this might be the
EVAP canister or not.

These differences in our cars might have something to do with them being Cali cars (mine was originally purchased in SoCal).

holy wow!
cost and impressions?

Picked it up from Steve from www.throttlebodys.com He was great to deal with, excellent customer service. Can't recall 100% but think it was like $165 & they come completely reconditioned (new seals, gaskets, etc). You can send your stocker back & get a core charge of like $40 if you want to or send in your origionally & have the work done to it. I wanted my stocker left in stock form if I ever need to convert the car back to stock so I kept it.

At first I was seeing abit to much airflow at idle (though not enough to max the ISC position all the way out, but close to, with the BISS turned all the way in). I took the TB off & the throttle plate clearances looked good (Steve offered to make a new plate for free) so I just took some paint & put it around the area of the TB walls & plate (like the TB's are from factory) & guess that filled up enough of the gap to get my ISC position back to where it should be in the center of its travel & allow me to back off the BISS abit.

So its worked great for me after that. Before/after results, don't know as I swapped my turbo at the same time but when you compared it to the puny stock 2g TB (its something like 52 or 54mm), it's gotta be helping the topend abit.

98s & 99s only have 2 ports because they do not have evap solenoids. I have a 99 & when I hooked up the EGR line to the source from P like it says in the RRE instructions I got bad idle surge so I just removed the EGR.

So did you cap off the "P" port? Did this cause a CEL?

I did cap the P port but I have DSMLink & so it dosent give a CEL for EGR. :D I have to get a smog check soon so I might try to hook up the EGR again & see if I can get it to work correctly.

Thanks buddy!:thumb:
you know pictures really are worth a thousand words.

damn sorry for the double post, but....
does anyone have a 1G NT throttle body on their car? Ive heard that they can be much better not haveing the big neck down at the elbow, but Ive never seen one installed in a 2Gt.
that only reason I ask is because I have a 1G NT TB. just dont know if I want to use it.

Sorry for not getting back. I've been busy with my install kit and last I checked my thread was so far down the list I thought nobody would answer. But thanks for all the feedback and pics. Knowing somebody has done this gives me total confidence about putting that TB on ASAP:rocks: . About the other questions... My car is a Cali car, and I believe it was made in April or June. How about you ROMEEN? My friend also has a 98, I'll check his car and get back to you guys. THANKS.:thumb:
