I have a 96 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST, I had a guy work on the engine head and block to install new gaskets and when he took the car apart all of the bolts got mixed up!!, he will not help put it back together. I would like to know if there is any kind of way to figure out where certain bolts in the engine go, is there a common size or marking that will determine the area of the bolt assignment or do i need to find all new bolts, this has been very very time consuming to accomplish, if i cant find where the bolts go is there a place that will sell the bolts separately?? I cant seem to find a vendor with Mitsubishi parts that sells the bolts. PLEASE HELP     Thanks

HDR has a good selection of bolts (Home Depot RacingLOL

Head bolts should really be replaced with ARP's -- and just get a friend to bring his car over so you can compare for the others.

Sadly, I can recognize about every bolt that goes into the top end of a 4g63.

Did you help with taking the motor apart? When i took mine apart for my rebuild I marked and labeled my bolts in plastic bags. I had alot aslo that i didnt label and it just came to me pretty easy. If it doesn't come to you that easily I would recommend ordering them from slowboy or your local dealership. I had to purchase some from them myself. You could also go out and purchase a engine and take it apart yourself and then you will have a spare motor and learn a little bit.

Look into ordering the shop manual on CD. FP sells them. I have found it indespensible and usually contains which bolts go where.

My first task in trying to figure out what goes where is to sort all the bolts. Sort them by grade then by length and then by thread. baggy the sorted like bolts. This should help alot rather than digging threw a pile every time.

I helped out another person with this same problem. Go here:

My screen name at the other forum is donzi. If you look at post #20 and beyond, you might find something that helps.
