Edmonton,
Hey guys, I just bought myself a brand new 6 bolt, with a whole bunch of mods done to the inards, and ported head and yata yata, any who that is not my question, I am doing a 7 to 6 bolt swap and I went to connect my 7 bolt oil pump to my 6 bolt block. Suprise suprise it did not match. Now, I went on the web looking for one of these. The auctionj I found is as follows. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DSM-...ryZ33622QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The guy told me a little about the item when I phoned him, and he told me that it was designed to eliminate the stock oil cooler, and that I did not need a oil cooler. Now that sounded like BS to me, but what do you guys think? Can I eliminate it, and not worry about the leaks? Or what? If not, then I am probably looking for a 6 bolt oil cooler housing. Thanks for your input guys

John

I'm doing a 6 bolt swap myself. I am going to use the 1990 oil filter housing with an external oil cooler. I also looked at that one but decided to go the other way. External coolers keep your oil temps a lot lower.

The cheapest place I found was at www.mitsubishiparts.com go to the oem catalog in the top right corner.

Definatly use a oil cooler. Theses engines run hot enough as is. Besides that why would you want to eliminate a oil cooler? You just spent however much money on the new motor why chance destroying it to save maybe 50 bucks?
Just dont seem worth the risk to me. Also carefull those ebayers will tell tou whatever they need to to sell you there product.

Then again it was ebay that tought us we could get the performance of a turbo with a 12volt fan for $19.99.
Come to think of it that would have been alot easer then my swap...

I'm using a 1990 oil filter housing with my 6 bolt swap as well and I'm actually going to do what Spoolin98 did with his bad ass oil cooler set up. Definately keep it, not only does it look cool and is something most 2g's will never see, it will help with cooling unlike the rinky dink 2g water to oil cooler.
