transfer case

i know our transfer cases loose oil and they intend to lockup down the road but how often should i check mine for oil loss or how long does the seal last on one..i just had mine replaced a month ago it was my first time and i dont want to happen again..so pretty much how long does the seal last or should i just take it to a dealer and have them check it? any advise would help thanx
