heres the deal i went to US131 motorsports park last nite and brought my talon. the place was packed only got 2 runs in. my first run i cant find my slip but was about 14.1 or so. but my 2nd run was
reaction .9097
60ft 2.445
1/8 et 9.621
1/8 mph 77.75
1000et 12.353
1000mph 87.39
1/4 et 14.723
1/4 mph 95.56

i know my 60ft is horrible but i just installed my centerforce dual friction clutch. i had it properly stepped and broke in to 625miles before any boost. the thing is on 06/16/2007 i was at the same strip on a stock clutch and the best i got was 13.855 at 99.40 before i smoked it. that is almost a whole second faster than what i just ran. what am i doing wrong. maybe i cant drive stick.LOL. any adivce helps thanks
sorry so long

You probably are just losing everything in your 60'. If your 60's are that time, then you probably aren't launching well, and thus, you probably aren't launching consistantly. With that being said, just work on that unless you have other reason to believe that your car is not running proporly. Just to give you an idea, my stock GST 60's were faster than that by a couple tenths. And yea, what are you launching at?

I rev it up to about 3750-4000k. The last time i went i was able to run 4 times with an average 60ft of 2.0450. So i know that i need to get that down some. However is that what is really killing my time. Not to bench race but what times would/should i be looking at if i am able to launch better? thanks for you help:thumb:

I dont even want to say what you could or should because im not going to bench race. If I had ran my car at the track I would tell you because I have an EvoIII 16G too. I would say its in the launch. If you ran faster before and the only thing you have changed is the clutch it would most definately be in the launch. I dont know what else to tell you. I was going to say your "tune" maybe but it should be the same as before because you didnt add any performance mods right?

That is what i was thinking too. With my elec. boost controller i have the low at 12psi and at high set at 20psi. On both trips to the track i was running 20psi , should i start with 12ish in 1st & 2nd then switch it to 20. But i will work on how i launch at the track when it stops raining here. thanks again

Your profile doesn't say anything about a fuel pump. Is it stock? I know you have EVO 8 injectors.

If you are AWD, I don't know if there is a good reason for you to turn down your boost in 1st and 2nd. With FWD's, that's an issue and we sometimes raise the boost as we go down the track to not overpower it. Are you just dropping the clutch out? Do you have a stock clutch?

i have a 190 pump, evo 8 injectors and a new centerforce dual friction clutch. i have about 700 easy miles on it and 50-60 boost miles and i think i just need more practice launching it. i was afraid of smoking a new clutch cause i dont have the funds to get a new one yet. im going to try to go this weekend and try again. well see

Is there a safe place off the roads where you can practice? Maybe a friend's long driveway or work parking lot (depending on what kind of job you have). Just make sure you keep it safe and respectful of your surroundings. It may be worth it to get the launch down before you head to the track. Remember too, that the track will be a lot stickier.

leave it at 20psi and get your 60 figured out and you will be good!

Agree. I was having the same problem with the same clutch when I first put it in this spring. All my 60's were around 2.1-2.2 when I was running around 1.8-1.9 the previous year on an semi-slipping clutch. Then one day I went to the track and started pulling 1.9's. I honestly think this clutch just take a lot longer to break in then they say. I'd say I had about 3000 mile on mine before sh*t started working right. I didn't look at any of you mods and I don't have to to know that you 60' is horrible to put it nicely. An AWD should be in the 1.7-1.8 range.

i just noticed something. Why is it taking you that long to move the last 320'?

60ft 2.445
1/8 et 9.621
1/8 mph 77.75
1000et 12.353
1000mph 87.39
1/4 et 14.723
1/4 mph 95.56

Thats almost 2.4 secs? That doesn't seem right to me. Anyone else think so?
