ok my story started at this point,i bought an ACT 2100 clutch kit went to the good mechanics to install it well guess what they put everything in,started the car and all the gears were grinding very bad,so they realize, that the pressure plate is bad.ok i bought a new pressure plate. they took the tranny off put a new PP in there, was ok,it cost me 800 bucks for a two time replacement.I drove the car for like a week, then my tranny got stock somehow. The gys who installed the clutch ,tow the car to there garage.they called me and told me that my bottom of the block is cracked from the pressure plate which last me for a one week.Well they send back the pressure plate to an ACT and they shipped a new one.they put it back again.i payed 1300 for install and welding the bottom peace of the block.took a car for a spin everything seemed perfect. Then i drove the car a lil longer for like 3 weeks.and then something broke again.I Went back to those mechanics, they pull out the tranny, and the clutch disk was broke in a half.they fix that. Now they put a 6puck some other brand clutch disk, which i hope will last way longer then that shitty ACT.I payed those guys 750 again.labor plus 6puck clutch disk (250)

my question is what i have to do with those two defective Pressure plates and a broken clutch disk?

Sounds more like improper installation to me, that or you really suck at driving, this is why I do my own work.

I loved my 2100 (90 TSI AWD) best feeling clutch ever.

My ACT2600 w/6-puck (GVR4) was brutal, but awesome.

I have a pretty good idea of what happened:

-------------------------------------
Stock Clutch broke.

Installed 2100

The first problem you state is that it ground into all gears: it sounds to me that your hydrolic clutch system was not pushing the PP in all the way. unless you can prove otherwise, ill bet that it was fine.

--------------------------------------

The second problem (on PP#2) is your BLOCK BROKE.

"block is cracked from the pressure plate"

This happened to me when I used oily bolts to bolt the trans up to the motor, they walked out and cracked the block. I propose this happed to you, because this is the ONLY WAY TO BREAK THE BLOCK ON WEAK CLUTCH (the 2100 is weak, trust me)

---------------------------------------

the third major mechanical failure doesnt make sense to me, its possible that ACT makes defective products, but they have been in the game for a while, so I would assume that they know how to make a quality product.

---------------------

old 2600 street clutch broke, the springs would pop out of the disk, but these clutches were made over 5 years ago, they have been building quality products since.

I no longer use ACT, they are too expensive, I use the CC clutches from MAP, they are pretty good.

I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU CONSIDER A DIFFERENT MECHANIC, UNLESS THEY ARE DSM SPECIALISTS THEY MAY NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND HOW TO WORK ON OUR TYPE OF VEHICLE

they know pretty much good about dsm's Turbotrix ill trust them cause they are doind a good work.i received a different Pressure plate,i mean it was a different design, but the same part number,so i think they are (ACT) correcting they mistakes finally!!!! And the guy from turbotrix called the ACT and told all that crap what happened,so they will ship me a new 2100 clutch kit (clutch plate and pressure plate) so thats kinda good news

I think it is all bullshi+. If you took it to them expecting them to repair everything, they should of done it the first time. It's kind of funny that all those new parts were all "defected" If this were to happen again, don't pay for it, a shop should have a warranty on parts right? And don't go back to them again; they sound like crap technicians but kudos on them for going back and forth several times. :D

Having knowledge and fast shop cars doesn't always produce good mechanical work, I won't get into details but I will just say my Turbotrix ACT 2600 job back in 03' has everything to do with why I joined this site and started buying my own tools, it was also the last job I out sourced besides head, block and tranny builds.

It's clear from your original post that some kind of spec/installation error played a role in your demise, hopefully they will pay more attention this time and get it right, good luck.
