So i haven't had a DSM in at least 5 years. Well i got bit by the bug again. My 1st car ever was a 1993 gs, then i got a 1995 TSI with a 6-bolt. Since then ive had a WRX, SRT-4, and a 280WHP GTI VR6 supercharged. Anyway ive moved out, my budget has gone down living in a house, going to school and what not. I sold the GTI and have been driving my parents explorer for a few months. 2 months ago i bought this F4 :]

First and foremost I would check timing of course, then plugs and wires. From there it looks like you have the right idea with what you listed. Also, air filter and you can remove or cut the cylinder around the air filter. That should get you a decent start.

Oh and almost forgot, boost leak test!

Free mods are ftw, thanks. As for the timing, the previous owner floated 3 valves on an over-rev, so it has a new headgasket, rebuilt head, t-belt, water pump, tensioner yada yada. Hes done over 100 t-belts so it should be good.
