Is this fpr legit? Will it lower my base fuel pressure and rise as i boost?

id like to know if it would work though. I mean its kinda like the difference of a hundred bucks thats gettin me.. I mean remember when people would buy an aem cold air intake over an ebay one? And yield the same horsepower... haha

You make a good argument. However, say that $100 cheaper FPR craps out on you during some "spirited" driving and you have to replace the bottom end. That initial savings of $100 just got multiplied 20x in the repair bill.

Personally, when it comes to something that is critical to the survival of your motor I wouldn't skimp out on it. Aeromotive, SX, and Fuel Lab are quite good. I run one of the Aeromotive units.

People used to say the same thing about ebay intercoolers. What's more important tha a cool enough aircharge. This prevents preignition AND detonation. Both lead to knock as easily as not having enough fuel. A FPR is not complicated to build if you have a decent machine shop.

I have more "homedepot" homeade upgrades than anyother on my car. It is the most reliable vehicles in my yard. And runs the fasted times and trap speed. . . "You get what you pay" for doesn't count any more. Not since branding has been incorperated in the big scheme of marketing. Name brands are getting away with chargign large amounts of money just because their name is on it. Quality doesn't have to be but so good: 100%. After that, they hike up the costs for the sake of their name. Once everyone can build an AFPR, who cares from where you get it? Is it such a hard concept to remanufacture w/ a little capital?

BTW, ebay wastegates are a charm. They control the whole concept of boost. Also, guys have been building very good MBCs from hardware store parts and selling them on ebay for years. What's more important than keep the boost where you've tuned it to be? How many more moving parts are there on in MBC than a FPR?

What I'm saying is that if no one's tested it then it is up to the one who is speculating to *discover* something new. Everyone else are "soothsayers".

I agree with you but I think there is a thing called acceptable risk. I wouldn't chance something like a FPR. Though there are definitely parts to skimp out on but I just don't think this is one of them. A FPR malfunction will make you go kaboom.

Anything else besides turbos, pistons, cams, rods, and fuel stuff I will agree with you that an Ebay part is fine.

I went 'kaboom' on a big but poorly designed intercooler:notgood: .

I went 'kaboom' on a faulty autometer boost gauge.

I went Kaboom on FP's recommendation to run 650cc injectors w/ an 18g:notgood: .

It's your bed, you have to make it. And lay in it. But, pushing the envelope is the only way to see what will happen. There's no more risk than w/ any other performace upgrade. What WON'T pop your engine?

Agreed.
The only thing that will not pop your engine is to not even start it.:D
The only thing that makes me wonder is if the FPR shown above will actually regulate fuel pressure and controll it with a 1:1 rise with boost. That would be the only thing that would worry me. I guess having an in-car fuel pressure gauge would help, since you can keep an eye on it.
But it makes me wonder where Aeromotive actually gets theirs. Do they build them in the US or do they order them from oversea's, slap their name on it, and make a double (sometimes triple) profit off them?

I actually have that same FPR on my N/T talon. It works just fine with the walpro 255. Don't ask me why I have such a large pump on my N/T.....i just got it because I wanted to get it. The only thing bad about that FPR is that the gauge will start to leak after a week or so. Mine started leaking inside the gauge and eventually stopped. No idea what made it stop, but it was just a very small leak.....enough to buckle the printing inside the gauge. I may eventually be swapping that system to my turbo talon as soon as I get the transmission figured out. I hate automatics! If you want a cheap FPR, go for it......you get what you pay for most of the time though.

Tinytim your body kit is rice not nice. I'd sell that auto dsm if i were you. It might get stuck in second gear

^ TY for the unnecessary stab at a fellow member.

DSM-onster has some very valid points. However, I would try it out on something you don't really care about first.

Part of me wants to say that a FPR is a hard thing to screw up and that it should work perfectly.

If failure occurs you'll just have way too much fuel. I can't think of a scenario where it would provide too little fuel and toast your engine...

Another part of me will never stop preaching the merits of a fuel system that is robust and over qualified for the job.

Let us know how it goes.

Honestly, that is completely unnecessary:notgood: To each their own. I'm keeping some words to my self about you, you should do the same.

Back on topic, I think it's worth it for someone to try it. For one, you're not out that much money and two you'll be possibly leading the way to a cheap alternative for other members. Even if it doesn't work, someone will benefit from your experience.

I am surprised they allow idiots like you be a proven member, with only 8 posts..

On a side note. I've got the eBay Greddy type-s. It seems to work pretty well and supposedly it's exactly the same as the real one, except for the diaphragm of being lesser quality. But you could just buy a real Greddy diaphragm for 60 bucks and it would STILL be less in total than a real one.

x2

I like how if you look none of his 8 posts are useful yet he's already a proven member. Yet I had to bend over ass backwards trying to be helpful and it took me over 150. And he's being a little prick.
