I am buying my 3rd DSM. Its a '96 GST. 5-Speed All Stock.

Short Story: The guy i am buying the car from had a 6-bolt swap put in. Well he gets it back and the car leaks alot of oil. The shop says the oil pump housing is cracked. Well the oil pump gets replaced 4 times. Well he finally takes it to another shop and they said the balanced shafts are filled with RTV and the oil relief valve (?) is screwed. So anyways he is taking the shop that did swap work to court. So i am buying the car. The car runs and kind of drives (long story).

Questions:
Do i need a new bottom end?
What do i need to look for?

O BTW the car is nearly mint and i am getting it title and all for $350 ROFL

That happened to me too. I had one shop do some work on my block. When I got the block back the machine work looked sub par. So I took my block to another well known machine shop. They then said that my oil passeges were filled with rtv from when the 1st shop did the balance shaft bearings, before they pressed them in, they filled the holes with rtv, then put in the bearing 180 out.

Lesson learned, you get what you pay for.

I'd certainly redo the BSE & Oil Pump & check the Crank & Rod Bearings with the History of Oil Pump probs so as not to risk that 6 Bolt but WOW - at that price you can hardly go wrong~!

Yeah i plan on pulling the oil pan tonight. Here's a little sneak peak of my $350 investment.
