Okay, so this GSX I just recently picked up came with only the front leather seats and carpet. EVERYTHING from the driver/passenger seat back is stripped clean to the frame. What I'm wondering is whether or not that I can put 2g seats into my car? I prefer the 2g leather sets to the 1g personally. I know all the plastic on the hatch etc will have to be replace with standard first gen stuff, but what about the front two seats and the rear buckets? Anyone know if they all just clip in the same or anyone ever done this?:sneaky:

Well, I guess that could be true and I see the reasoning. I just don't like the front seats as much. I've very partial to the 2g seats compared to the appearance of the 1g's. But either way, my front seats are still pretty trashy looking. I mean, they'r only 14 years old... ROFL

The interior swap is not worth the work but, putting in after market racing seats is a good idea, my sparco's keep me planted in the seat on hard corners and they save weight.

I don't know what your ultimate goals are with this car but if you are wanting to make some serious 1/4 passes or really get into AutoX then any seat with an adjustable back will not pass safety. If you are going to invest in some sort of racing seat then do it right the first time.

I believe they must have a certain certification just like helmets that most if not all knockoff seats most likely do not carry that your buddy's evo seats (even if they are stock) might have.

Otherwise I stand corrected :)

His seats,

Well, I know a buddy at a junkyard who has tons of totalled 2g DSM's there and I'm pretty sure I could pick up a pair of 'decent' leather sets from him for cheap. That's why I was asking. I'm not sure if I'm really wanting to spend 250+ on a set of seats yet. Would much rather put a radio in my car or get a new FMIC. :) Thanks though.

To each his own, but this sounds terrible to me.
The 1g has the essence of a sports car, whereas a 2g is more just to sell.

:) Yea, the 1g is like the heart of the old school. Even though I don't have pop up lights, I'm becoming more and more fond of the non-bubbled, wedge-shape every day that I get into it. Fortunately for me, I found a nice 91 TSi AWD with a blown motor that I got to gut for 100 bucks. Got me a Type-S BOV, FULL interior and plastics(cloth), pretty decent 14b back-up turbo, door panels, Spare Rim Set, and some miscellaneous junk like the TB that was leaking from the BISS screw on my car. Great deal, over all.

Oh, and yea, the cloth seats are MUCH lighter. I would say a good 5lbs a piece for the driver/passenger. You could actually feel it when carrying them from one car to the other.
