i would like some opinions on what i sould do with my eclipse. frist of all ill let you know how i got the car and how the car is now. it was gave to me by one of my best friends. he let me have couse he was tired of looking at it. now the bad part. the car was runing when my friend got it, but its not now. it needs a motor, trany, wiring harnes, front and rear suspension, front bumper, driver side window and probly alot more stuff. i need the yalls opinion on if i should fix for show, or fix it to race as full blown racer car. should i just sale part off of it and scrap it. so if you would like to give an opinion feel free to. think you:dsm:

Depends on how much work, money part searching you want to do. Could always build it and have great pride in yourself knowing it was rather a "heap" when you bought it and now its really nice. I my self would probably keep it ponder the idea of fixing up to run then go from there.

If you are looking for a project and are really serious about it then this is what I would do.
first of all get the car running I would start searching junk yards for the wiring harness and for either one of your ideas (show or race) buy a new engine that is gauranteed to run. IMO I would go with the race style but still keep it street legal. Once you have decided on the type of car you want then you can decide on suspension, where for show you will want suspension that looks good and race application needs a suspension that works. Once the car is driveable and is in stock condition (engine wise) and you have the suspension setup you need or want then you can start focussing on the engine mods.

For racing I would take a 7-bolt block and stroke it to 2.3L and probably go with a ball berring 50 trim turbo, but that is a preferance so its your choice on that. Along with that I would probably go with 850cc injectors 255LPH fuel pump, FMIC, GM MAF, MAF-T, DSM Link, A nice blow off valve like the HKS SSQV, a 3" turbo back exhaust at a minimum you can go bigger, but I wouldn't suggest going any smaller than 3", Boost controller, Turbo Timer, and some strong couplers with T-bolt clamps to make sure none blew off at WOT. I would roughly get the car up to making at least 500 - 550 h.p.

For a show car I would start with just a 7-bolt block you wouldn't have to do much to it performance wise. Get the valve cover painted to match the car, get all your hoses and lines the same color, get chrome hard IC pipes, a FMIC, As long as you have a different turbo and manifold than stock I think it would be fine, so something like a tubular manifold and an evo III turbo would give you plenty of power for show and if you ever wanted to drive it you can still have fun. With a bigger turbo always get the correct fuel mods so at least 550 injectors and a 195LPH fuel pump and for a show car I would reccomend the SAFC-2 because it lights up and it is very noticeable. Along with the SAFC get an AVC-r boost controller because they match and things that match help with show cars.

Then as far as the interios goes racing wise (if your still gonna use it to drive around and stuff), just get a good pair of racing seats and a secure set of harnesses and deffinately a role cage put in and that is all I would do with the interior, for racing.

For show It all depends on preferance I would either make everything on the interior match itself or match the exterior that would be your choice, and it would also be your choice if you put a sound system in it and anything else, interior is all how the person building the car wants it to be in the show there really isn't a guidline I know about it.

I hope this helps you make a decision about what to do with the car most of the things I put in here are my preferance and are not ment to affend anybody.

Good luck.

You're probably not going to go anywhere with a 420a so if you're willing for the sweat, pain, and blood, you can pull a 6-bolt motor from a 1g and go from there. :sneaky:

He doesn't have a 420a. He has a 4g64, granted his profile is accurate.

In any case doing a 4g63 swap into a 420a requires a rediculous amount of time and money. For the most part its a waste.

As far as you question goes figure out what you want to do. Do you want to go or do you want to show? My motto is always go before show. Varies from person to person. Find out what you want and I'm sure you'll be able to get a lot of help in whatever you choose.
