Well i tried to start my car and the engine is wanting to turn over the pulleys are moving the cams are spining but it wont fire up... any ideas? plugs fuel starter? im uploading a video on youtube and when it passes through their test i will put it on here please help me out!

It could be a number of things. I would check your fuel and spark first. If you don't have either, I would check your ECU. One way I know to check the ecu is turn on the key but don't start it. If the CEL comes on and goes off within 5 seconds, it should be ok. If it does not come on at all, it is more than likely bad. Check your battery connections on the positive side of the battery. Your lights and accessories may still work, but if it is not a good enough connection, you car will turn over and not crank.

If you have no spark, check your electrical connection and check your coil pack.
If you have no fuel, check your Fuel Pump relay and check your voltage at your fuel pump. If those check out good, replace the fuel pump.

If you don't already have a manual, get one!

I have a manual and what is a CEL? When i go to crank it over and stop i think the starter makes a weird noise like its spining and then it stops could this be a factor too?

Hear the noise after i stop cranking it?

What would be some ways of checking to see if im getting fuel... Should i run a compression check while im messing with the car too?

oh and im not talking about the whistle sound if you listen close you can hear like a brrrrr type of noise a fast like clicking type noise fast tick

the easiest way to check if you are getting fuel is to pull of the return line on the FPR ( Fuel Pressure Regulator ) and run another hose away from electrical components then attempt to start the car. There are several other ways to check though. If fuel comes out of that line, then you are getting fuel. Have someone listen for the fuel pump to turn on as you try to crank it. You cannot always hear it though. Check your manual for other ways to check for fuel pressure.

Another thing could be your ignition coil located under the coil pack. Autozone or Oreilly's can test that for you. Just bring it to them and they will test it.

Charge your battery and don't hold the starter for more than 4 or 5 seconds. It is not good to do that.

EDIT* also check you CAS ( Cam Angle Sensor ) The manual shows how to do that too.

Im going to read my manual tonight and next time i go to my uncles i will mess with it and hope it starts Tim i appreciate all your replies thx for your help

after watching the video again, i heard what you are talking about. that fast clicking sound is your ignition relay. Charge your battery and clean the terminals really good then try to crank it. It sounds like it tries to hit every once in awhile. Probably when the ECU can build up enough juice.

well i know my battery sucks because i was using jumper cables when i was cranking it so yea i know that the battery is bad and when you watch it closely you can here that it like wants to spark up and turn over

Yeah, your best bet would try to eliminate one thing at a time.

1. Start with your battery connection...clean them really good.
2. Check your spark....pull out one and ground it and see if it sparks. If you have a spark plug tester, use that.
3. Check your fuel system.
4. Check your ECU.
5. If all else fails....get a bigger hammer

i think im going to start with #5 LOL im going to get an older mechanic hes been working on cars for about 30 years so im going to take him with me maybe hell know off hand
