Well, I had just replaced the clutch master cylinder on my 91 FWD TSi not too long ago, I'd say over a month ago..
Well, in order to shift without the 'grinding' noise, you'd have to have the clutch pretty much to the floor.. I fixed that so it engages towards the top..
It felt like I was driving stick all over again, and my grandpa can barely drive without stalling.. But recently, It's really rough getting it into gear, sometimes when down shifting it's hard to get into 3rd especially..

I've asked the previous 2 owners whether or not the clutch was stock, or aftermarket.. they don't know.

But.. According the the receipts from the first owner, I'm on my 2nd transmission, I just rolled 91k miles the other day..

Is there any way I can see if the clutch is stock without actually taking the transmission out and seeing?

Or could I have problems, I was thinking possibly shifter bushings? Or ... something I HATE to say.. is my transmission going out?!?! =[

Thanks!

Look at your slave cylinder and determine the condition of it. You can rebuild it, or replace it. It'll be leaking fluid out the little boot if its bad. Hence you need to sometimes pump the clutch to get into gear.

Thanks guys, I'll have to check it out, but when I do I'll let ya know..

It did it today, I had the clutch down at a stop and tried to put it in first from neutral, and it made a really bad grinding noise.. Then I just get paranoid..

Aren't DSM transmissions awesome? I agree with the above. As far as seeing what kind of clutch you have, time to get dirty. Pull the transmission. Sounds like you might be doing that soon anyway....:talon:

Yeah, I probably will just get a new clutch here soon.. Plus I'll see if I have the stock one or not.. Not that hard.. I just have issues at home to deal with where it makes it complicated.. No place to work on my car :(
