I recently bought a '93 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5Sp. with intensions of making it an 1/8 mi dragcar. My friends all have the fox bodies and laugh at the thought of a four cylinder running low 8's and faster. I've had some experience with 97 Eclipse GS-T I owned a few years ago, but not much.

I've since purchased:
GReddy Timing Belt
Gatorback Balance Shaft belt
Water Pump
New Tensioner and bearings.

Car has:
Buscher 2.5" Catback(getting rid of for a full Apexi N1 turbo back)
walbro 190lph fuel pump
NGK Wires & Plugs

Next mods are:
Fidanza Flywheel
Fidanza 3.2 Clutch
Hallman ES Boost Controller.

Few questions are..
After the above mods are done, I'm going to upgrade the intercooler piping, But from there it leaves me with a ton of options. Since the car will be used for track mostly and maybe a Saturday night strip cruise or two, it can be pretty aggressive. I was planning on going with the Blow Through setup, but I want to run DSMLink and have heard of problems with a GM MAF. So that leaves me with the 2g MAF, or modding the 1g MAF. Where should I go from here?

Sorry if I'm :beatentodeath: I've been searching for days now, and everyone's setup seems to be street-daily driven friendly. Which doesn't have to be the case for me and long as I can dip into the mid-low 8's in the 1/8 mi. Thanks, -Cap

There are so many ways you could go its really up to you! Are you planning on just doing bolt ons or do you want to rebuild the engine. I don't really know what kind of horse power it takes to run 8's on the 1/8 mile. but here is a list of some stuff to get you started.
Intake: K&N and a injen hard pipe
Turbo: A good easy bolt on it the Evo III 16g you could do anything 50 trim its up to you
Exhaust: Get a good turbo back and if its for the strip eliminate the cat
Fuel: you have the pump get injectors the size depends on your turbo
Ecu: DSM link is probably the best option unless you have deep pockets
Engine: If you want to rebuild the engine get a stoker kit.

the list goes on DSM's are a great thing to throw money at have fun racing on the strip!

make sure to find out if u have a 7 or 6 bolt. your year is around the time of the use of the 7bolt, so be aware.

1G's switch to 7 bolt motors halfway through the 92 year.\

Looks like you are doing fairly well with your setup. To impress the domestic boys, you're probably going to need a fair sized turbo. 50 trims+ will need more fuel, bigger intercooler (not just pipes, so you might want to save and get a kit). DSMLink would be great to tune your setup with.

I think the best question to ask you right now is what all are you wanting out of this street car? Are you willing to strip it? Remove a/c heater? I think a 16g is a great beginner mod and people always seem to get rid of them before they fully unleash there potential.

LOL, sorry guys, it's a 7bolt, but from what I've read the 1g 7bolts are a little more reliable that the 2g 7bolts. My intentions are to end up with a 500hp track monster. LOL, but then again isn't everyone's? Although I do have a daily driver and this car will be strictly a hobby. If I happen to blow it up, I'll rebuild it.

edit: P/S and A/C is comming out when I change the timing belt and do all the maintenance things that need to be done. I'll be pulling the interior, no radio, two front racing seats, back will be stripped. I also purchased the balance shaft elim kit, but I'm going to wait to 'til a rebuild to put that in.

Another question I have is to use DSMLink, you have to send your computer somewhere to have it modded? Just making sure I'm understanding other posts right..

Only if your ECU does not have an eprom (which it probably doesn't). Search for it and you will find tons of info on how to check for it, etc.

If you don't have an eprom ECU... it's probably just as cheap (or at least more reliable) to buy one with a factory eprom, rather than modding yours. Check out keydiver.com and ebay.

Once you have an eprom ECU, you can get a custom chip burned for it or get DSMlink. I am currently using an ECU and chip from Keydiver (which I am pleased with), but will probably switch to the link when cash flow allows it ;)

To clarify:

If you have an EPROM computer, you will need to send it out to get it socketed for DSMLink.

If your ECU isn't EPROM, then you will need to find one in order to run DSMLink or keydriver chips.
