Hey i was wondering if too much boost on a pretty much stock system would cause my rod bearings to die?

Hey i was wondering if too much boost on a pretty much stock system would cause my rod bearings to die?
well i put my tranny back in today, after the car sat since last november. Took it for a drive, fixing vaccum leaks as i went, and started hearing some bad knocks after a while, while i was off the throttle. Lucky for me i was almost home. So i limped back to my garage, took the vavle cover off, and the heads are fine. So im pretty sure it is the rod bearings. The only problem is how? I was without a boost guage and just kind of eyeballed my MBC. My guess was too much boost.

I don't believe I just read this!
