Hey guys long time. My car ran good for a whole 3 months without any problems!! ok i have a question, considering my little crappy t-25 said it didn't like 14 lbs of boost. my question is how much bigger is the t-28 compared to the t-25. Is it a definate difference or not worth my time. i am limited on money though and this is a daily driver weekend-racer. i have roughly 500 bucks to work with and i found a newer t-28 for 320 on the classifieds here. if anyone has a big 16 or small 16 i am willing to get one if it came with the 2g adapter kit. but even then i still dont know much about the differences between them. My buddy has a big 16 on his 92 laser and some small bolt ons and is running low 14's. this is pretty impressive with boost levels only reaching about 14 lbs. i need something quick but i dont have a lot of money someone just leave some good advice. :talon:

you'll notice a huge difference... the stock t-25 sucks after 11psi. that t-28 will pull 19-21ish all the way to the redline. t-25 is only good for about 250whp, the t-28 around 350, and the 16g around 380. be careful though, you'll have to get a fuel pump and injectors and a safc or you wont be able to run anything over 11psi with a 16g.

thats what i wanted to hear thanks guys i appreciate it a lot. THANK YOU
you guys are always so much more helpful than any other forums, and usually right more also. i just wanna say thank you for always helping out noobs such as me.

$320 is pretty cheap for a T-28, make sure it's in good condition if you buy it. A majority of turbo guys stick with MHI turbo's (14b, 16g's) because they are cheaper and easier to find, and make more power. The 14b upgrade is very cost effective upgrade as well.
Is your T-25 blown, or are you just looking to upgrade?

You should follow the power guide in the tech section, and unless your profile is not updated, you need a few other things first. Boost gauge, controller, full exhaust, and intercooler piping/BOV upgrades.

here's a good turbo comparison link:

Another good chart for turbo/fuel recommendations:
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclfuel.htm (scroll down to the chart)

As mentioned, you will need to rewire your fuel pump at the least, but I would recommend to get at least a 190lph fuel pump as well. Evo 8 fuel pumps (rated around 190lph) are another great alternative and can be found for much cheaper than walboro pumps. If you did that, you could run 16psi on 93 Octane. On that exact setup (with the other Stage 1 mods) i was running high 13's with trap speeds over 100mph.

Of course, you'll need a clutch kit not long after that.

my turbo blew up... i just dont wanna throw a poopy t-25 back on. i just want something that can remain stock touchy for now and potent later on when i get my daily driver. thats why i was thinking of the t25. though a 16g does sound good. i don't know i got a lot of thinking to do before i just go out and start spending my money and ending up blowing more things up that i did not need to replace in the first time. I have one ? though what does a logger acually do, i have heard of them before, and was told to get one i just didnt understand what they did so i didnt get one.

^^^ you mean T28. A logger basically tells you exactly what your engine is doing while in operation. It let's you see your timing curve (to help tune out knock in your case, since you're 2g). It also has some nice features like clearing codes, seeing particular temps, and I believe seeing how much air you're flowing.

Also, another thing about the T28, it makes a great sleeper turbo if you're into that kind of thing.

I just replaced my t-25 with a plain unported t-28 about a month ago but I havent done any fuel mods or even added a boost controller because my main concern was my clutch because it was already starting to slip before I even put it on, but a few days ago it completly gave out so it looks like I wont be driving it anytime soon. Back to the point.. I had a budget basically the same as yours and the good thing is thats it's NOT necessary to do fuel, boost, or intercooler mods with this turbo and you'll still notice a difference. Because I havent done any of these mods it didnt make that huge of a difference, it still dies off around 6K, but you can definitly tell it makes alot more torque when the boost is full on between about 3000-5500 rpm.

You can run a 16g safely if you dont turn the boost up too much i would say 15 max with a rewired pump, then later on down the road when you got the money you can do fuel and what not and have a pretty quick fun car
