Tomorrow I want to reset my oil pump sprocket becuase I am getting a horrible vibrating above 3k (bad enough to destroy 3 oil return lines in less than a month). Anyways I just want to make sure I'm not a complete n00b when I do this so all I need to do is: set #1 to TDC per the cam sprocket marks, remove timing cover, secure the timing belt to the cam sprockets to prevent play, loosen auto tensioner, line up the oil pump sprocket with the timing mark and then put everything back together right? Please correct me if I'm wrong...
Thx, Andrew

Plan on following the directions for a timing belt job...without replacing the belt. If you have all your balance shafts, make sure they are all lined up or you will have similar symptoms as what you are currently describing.

I actually did the same thing about 3 weeks ago. I did the timing belt job per VFAQ but didn't line up the oil pump sprocket. I got it all back together and bam, vibrated like crazy. Immediately I refered back to the VFAQ where it talks about making sure the oil pump and balance shafts are in the correct phase. Basically I had to tear everything back down just to rotate the oil pump sprocket 180*. So, check the VFAQ and following very closely cause spending 2 hours just getting the damn timing belt cover off is a beoch. -Jeremy
