My buddy has a 97 gst with stock fuel...basically just a 2.5 catback...
basically he just purchased a t04e turbo, mbc, boost gauge, and a/f gauge

my question is...will the t04e bolt right up to the 2g mani, and is it insane overkill to have this turbo on stock fuel???

thanx in advance

Oh sorry...also if this is a direct bolt up turbo...what would be an appropriate boost level to run on an otherwise stock gst? (minus 2.5 catback and k and n filter) thank you guys

With a stock fuel system you'll only be able to run about 16 PSi safely. Which T04E did he get? Without a fuel system any T04E is overkill and you wont be able to run it on max PSI. However, running at 16 PSI you will still see some nice gains. Cheers, Tom.

tom thank you for the response...yeah I'm sure he's planning on some sort of fuel upgrades (injectors, pump, afpr, management)...but atm I guess he just decided to purchase turbo, gauges, and mbc...

second question...anyone know if it will bolt up to the 2g mani? again, it is a t04e...I guess it's actually an ebay turbo...so LOL i guess he'll be crossing his fingers...

will it bolt right up to the 2g flange?

I wouldn't run that turbo on stock fuel I've been there I doubt you'd get 16psi but everyone's car is different. It's defenitely overkill on stock fuel.

I think all T04E's use a mitsu exhaust housing so the answer is Yes (95% sure). I've got a BP T04B V-Trim in the mail and it has the same exhaust housing.
Can anyone verify this?

Tom

Your friend should get a logger to help determine if he's getting knock and other information about the car. There's a free logger program, but I forgot the name. Do a search and you should find it. You'll still need a palm pilot of some sort to use it. Check ebay, dsmtuners classified to see if someone is selling a used data logger. I use Pocketlogger to monitor the stats of my car. You can't directly check for knock on a 2g with pocketlogger, but you can tell by looking for timing dips in the logs. What is your friend's budget? Just guessing what psi to run is not the safe way to go.

Exactly. To really know what psi is safe you need to have a logger. I hit fuel cut at 15psi on my EIII16g. I would definitely have him rewire the pump, only like $20. If not, drop the $100 and get an upgraded pump.

mm haha I forgot to mention he has a crushed 1g bov and a fmic...I'll let him know about the fuel issues, and i'll recommend a datalogger for him

thanks guys appreciate the help
