Alright, My dad and I have almost identical 91 plymouth lasers, 2.0 5 speed non turbo.

The other day he said he was driving and the car started boggin and cutting out like he was running out of fuel. The car died and he had it towed home. I later got home from work and it started up fine for me. He has messed with it and it will start most of the time but ever now and then it will not start. He is thinking it is the EFI relay so he swaped it out with mine and both relay's worked in my car, my relay worked in his but when he put his relay back in his car. It didn't start at first then it did.

Now, today when I was leaving work for lunch, my car wouldn't start. I pulled the spark plug and noticed it was dry. I cranked the car and was getting spark but no fuel. I then pulled the MPI fuse at the battery terminal, plugged it back in and heard the injector's cycle then my car started right up.

I am wondering if anyone has had similar problems? Are our capasitor's taking a dump at the same time? Or is the EFI relay going bad? We both have good fuel pressure so I know it can't be the fuel pump. It is defiently an electrical gremlin.

My car had the same symptoms before my computer went completely out. The caps is what caused my problem. No CEL light ever came on and the engine kept cutting in and out when i gave it gas. If your CEL is on, post the codes. You may have also broke a wire on your MAF or just may have a loose connection somewhere.

I would think it would be the relay going bad. Mine is going bad as we speak and it tends to drain the battery overnight (starts to buzz). I just unplug the relay when I park the car and plug it back in when I'm ready to drive. It's a pain, but it gets me by. Yes, I do have a lot of electrical problems with this car since the last person that owned the vehicle hacked most of the electrical...very aggravating.

Yes, also check your MAF sensor wiring connectors and make sure they are making contact. Sometimes when they aren't connected all the way, they will arc and make a connection and then disconnect again in a relatively continuous cycle.

Can you hear your fuel pump turning on when you turn the key in the ignition?

first, no check engine lights on either car.

Also, if it was the MAF wouldn't it just default to a preset fuel mixture setting, I am pretty sure it would, though I will check for the problems.

I know my dad swapped his computer out with another one we had, the capacitors are starting to go bad in the one he swapped, I am not sure if his capacitors are bad or not. We did order the kit off ebay and I will be soldering them in our extra computer.

My car also did something kind of different on me today too, it started revved to about 1500 RPM then just died. I am almost certain that the problems are probably all related.
